Ok, I have to rant. There are some Freepers who seem to really, really hate certain candidates. A majority of their post are saying sometimes nasty and mean things about that candidate. This is so typical of whats wrong with Republicans and Conservatives in general. We will eat our own candidates and pull defeat from the jaws of victory. I see the same thing in Religion, which explains why there are dozens of Christian churches within miles of my house each claiming to be the "correct" way to God. I am in Texas. I like Perry but he has made some bad decisions, border, Gardasil, trans-corridor. Still he is generally a good guy and governor. In the debates he proved he is an Aggie. Gingrich, he was great in 1994 with the contract with America, but let the glee of his victory get the best of him and over reached his mandate and lost to the Democrats. Sill he is a smart guy and has good ideas. Cain, I like a lot, good personality, executive skills, but not perfect. Bachmann, great ideas but jumped the gun to many times and eventually showed she needed to what she says a little better. Santorum, great guy and ideas but just lacks charisma and cant make the sale enough to gain traction. Paul is our Texas crazy Uncle, love him and his ideas on money but does not know how to be a little less anti Israel and not so open borders on foreign affairs. Yes he is right we spend way too much as the military for the world, but come on Islamic nuts with Nukes not a good idea. Romney, a smart guy, typical East Coast liberal Country Club Republican, not a Conservative or Libertarian by any measures. He is more of a wonk than a leader and not my choice. Huntsman, wow that guy sure looks like my Gay uncle Harley, his ideas seem, well not Republican, Conservative or Libertarian. So back to my point. All of these Candidates have flaws and some good points the top appears to be firming up to be Cain and Newt vs. Romney.
Don’t let it get your knickers in a twist. Just ignore it.
Most of the debates and discussion on FR are civil and fraught with ideas, facts and logical opinions. Many disagree. And there is nothing wrong with a bunch of like minded individuals debating the details of a larger ideological belief.
The more aggressive discussions usually stem from some ignorantly stated positions and a subsequent failure to provide some logical support for it. Ron Paul supporters are famous for this (not always). The Huntsman supporters get tarred and feathered around here simply because Chris Mathews gets all Wee Weed up over the “ultra conservative” John Huntsman.
So, I unapologigetically disagree with your opinion based on the above.
You need to first define what is conservatism then you can use that as a yardstick to measure candidates by.
Would pointing out that you spelled THEIR wrong in your headline be considered mean?
Let's examine that for a moment. What is your opinion, Turdbreath?
(kidding of course)
Excellent post.
A great case for perfect being the enemy of good!
I hate it when people misspell "losing."
This could be vey series.
I can appreciate that, but if you want anything to change you'll have to take it up with management.
If you've read the bible and understand what is written, you won't be confused as to who is a Christian. Mormons are not Christians.
Yup. And when it's all done, we'll be told we MUST vote for the chaff, since that is our candidate in the general election.
Ok I am sorry for all those things I said about that slimy A__hole Willard Mitt Romney the frugal socialist.
No, we're not the only ones: Study the 2008 Democrat primary. Plenty o' ugliness there.
I wouldn’t say I hate Romney. I just really dislike him for president.
Yes that was bad English and typing.
She let the lady who claimed her daughter had become mentally damaged by the vaccine get her to say that and get attacked by the press. (I happen to believe that mom by the way) and there were a few other areas where she said some things that she should likely have waited before she jumped to conclusions. By the way I absolutely love Bachmann and think she is a great patriot. I am just saying politically she goofed enough times to hurt her traction.
I will put it in another way: the conversation gets extremely wicked. Ooops, I voiced my opinion, I expect a tar and feather by the Conservative Truth Squad.
Welcome to primary season at Free Republic. You act as though you haven’t been through one.
Anywho, from the way I’ve seen it, what you describe are really one or two loudmouths for each of the major candidates.. most folks here aren’t that way.
Personally, I like them all except Romney and Paul. (not counting Huntsman and Johnson, they are static). Heck, even the Rent is Too Damn High guy would be an improvement over Obama.
Goldwater was a socialist.
