NEW DELHI – Police in India’s Kashmir Valley detained and beat converts from Islam and were expected to arrest Christian workers after Muslim leaders alleged that Muslim youth were being “lured” to Christianity.
Police in the Muslim-majority Kashmir Valley picked up seven converts who were recently baptized in All Saints Church in Srinagar, a local Christian who spoke to the converts after their release on Nov. 2 told Compass. Srinagar is the summer capital of the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir and the main city of the Kashmir Valley.
The source, who requested anonymity, said police beat the converts and asked if Christians had given them money for their conversion. Most of the converts were from Budgam district, about 18 miles from Srinagar, and pastors there fearful of being arrested were in hiding, he added.
Senior Superintendent of Police of Srinagar Ashiq Bukhari was not available for comment.

Surprise, surprise. The fraudulent religion of peace strikes again. Having a hard time finding articles about Christians, Jews, and other religions beating and killing people. Guess it’s just a “Muslim Thing”.
Last night I watched “The Third Jihad” Netflix rental- documentary. Let’s just say it was a real eye-opener. SCARY!
Even though they are only about 13% of the population of India, Muslims account for the majority of the savage violence in that country.
Why would India take the Muslim side?

This happened in Jammu/Kashmir, which is only nominally an Indian state. There’s a huge overflow from Pakistan, the population is majority Muslim, and the actual government in Delhi has only tenuous authority there. The state government is highly independent and often resists Delhi’s authority. Also, this is the police stepping way outside their jurisdiction, even for J&K, and though you won’t hear about it in the west, with the Indian government on an anti-corruption crusade right now it’s a fair bet that there will be a significant purge of the offending officers. There’s a big to-do about whether or not to lift the Indian Army’s emergency authority in the region, so this kind of thing isn’t going to help.
All that said, the original story was that the Christians were allegedly giving money to people if they converted, which is illegal no matter what religion they are. This likely would have happened regardless of the religions involved.
India has the 2nd or 3rd highest population of Muslims. There are enclaves of huge majority Muslims. I have to believe the police chief has to be a Muslim.
