Please read this special message from our friend, Time for Newt. .
[snip .. my name goes here]
"Smartest guy in the room." "A genius." "Brilliant." "Fantastic to listen to." "I would love to see him debate Obama."
"But he can't win."
If you're like me, every time Newt Gingrich's name comes up, this is the kind of thing you hear. Conservatives love him. He's clearly the smartest guy on the stage and the candidate best suited to take the fight to Obama. So why does he always get ignored?
Because the liberal media and the establishment have been telling us all for a year that Newt Gingrich can't possibly win. Well, I'm here to tell you that all that's changed. Newt Gingrich is now leading Mitt Romney in Iowa. He can win, and he WILL win if we have your help.
Consider this email your permission slip to do what you've wanted to do all along: get behind Newt Gingrich and fight for the smartest, most electable conservative in the race.
Mitt Romney came up with the idea that became the template for Obamacare. Without Mitt Romney, there IS no Obamacare. Rick Perry thinks you're heartless if you don't want to give free college tuition to illegal aliens. (He actually SAID that!) And Herman Cain is a nice man, but he can't win at this point.
That leaves Newt, right where he's been all along, articulating real solutions that will allow us to take our country back, turn this economy around and make us freer, stronger, and safer as a country.
Just stop with me a second and think about something: Next Fall, there's going to be a Presidential debate between Obama and the GOP nominee. Who do you want to be in it?
Mitt Romney? The guy who has taken different positions on every single major issue?
Rick Perry, the guy who can't articulate his positions, and when he does, seems to offend conservatives every time he talks?
Herman Cain?
The answer is clear: Newt Gingrich. He will absolutely wipe the floor with Obama. He won't be cowed, he knows policy better, and he has the backbone to tell it like it is. He has the guts to say to the American people, "President Obama has failed."
As the leading pro-Newt SuperPAC, we're going to go into the states and rally the activists, and build the organization Newt needs to win this nomination and beat Obama in the Fall.
The media and the establishment don't get to pick our nominee. We do.
Will you join us?
It's time.
Sincerely,
Charlie Smith Campaign Manager Time For Newt
Return fire at will...
If Gingrich was leading in the polls, the attacks would make the Cain assault look like an endorsement.
Newt is doing well because he has specifically avoided that and kept the fire at the real targets.
This is a mistake, if it really came from the Newt camp and not some third party.
I agree & hope Newt is our candidate. My 2nd choice is Santorum - 3rd is Cain. I like Cain for a cabinet position.
Indeed. The Gingrich serial adulterer commercials are ready to roll if he ever becomes a real threat.
I have to admit Newt does debate extremely well...he would mop the floor with Obama.
I would love to support him, but something keeps telling me there’s something wrong in doing so. He really went off the deep end for a few years, so I wonder what his gameplan is. Was his plan to go left for a while just to be able to run well in the general election? Or did he lose his core for a while?
And you’re right, the media hasn’t gone after him yet. If he was leading he would be skewered. The tore him up before and they will do it again.
Don’t worry...the clock is always ticking for Newt’s next act of self-immolation. The smart amongst us realize this, and hope he will someday make a great cabinet secretary. But he would be a train wreck as nominee.
Regretably, Gingrich has proved himself over the years to be smart as hell, a great debater, and totally lacking in moral principles.
He doesn’t have any desire whatever to save our country. He wants to return to power, and he’ll do anything to get back into power, as he proved, to take one example, when he sucked up to Steele and the RNC by shilling for Dede Scozzafava, even though he was thoroughly aware that she was as corrupt bribe taker and liberal spender who supported abortion on demand and gay marriage.
Or when he sucked up to Nancy Pelosi and supported her efforts to put cap and trade into effect and permanently bankrupt our energy industry.
There’s nothing he won’t do to get back into power. And as he proved in his last term under Bill Clinton, there’s nothing he won’t do to stay in power.
There’s a national tea party now? How’d I miss that?!
And I notice that they didn’t list a reason Cain shouldn’t debate Obama, as they did with Perry and Romney. Chumps.
Why would he distance himself from it? Its who he is.
1989: Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-GA) co-sponsors the ambitious Global Warming Prevention Act (H.R. 1078), which finds that the Earths atmosphere is being changed at an unprecedented rate by pollutants resulting from human activities, inefficient and wasteful fossil fuel use, and the effects of rapid population growth in many regions, that global warming imperils human health and well-being and calls for policies to reduce world emissions of carbon dioxide by at least 20 percent from 1988 levels by 2000. The legislation recognizes that global warming is a major threat to political stability, international security, and economic prosperity. [H.R. 1078, 2/22/1989]
1992: Gingrich calls the environmental proposals in Al Gores book Earth in Balance devastatingly threatening to most American pocketbooks and jobs. [National Journal, 9/5/92]
1996: At a speech for the Detroit Economic Club, Gingrich mocks Al Gores global warming, citing the largest snowstorm in New York Citys history: We were in the middle of budget negotiations; the football games were coming up and we noticed on the weather channel that an early symptom of Al Gores global warming was coming to the East Coast. And it does make you wonder sometimes, doesnt it, how theoretical statisticians in the middle of the largest snowstorm in New York Citys history could stand there and say, I dont care what its doing. Its going to get very hot soon. [FDCH Political Transcripts, 1/16/96]
1997: As Speaker of the House, Gingrich co-sponsors H. Con. Res. 151, which notes carbon dioxide is a major greenhouse gas that comes from products whose manufacture consumes fossil fuels and calls on the United States to manage its public domain national forests to maximize the reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. [H. Con. Res. 151, 9/10/1997]
2007: Gingrich calls for a cap-and-trade system with tax incentives for clean energy. I think if you have mandatory carbon caps combined with a trading system, much like we did with sulfur, and if you have a tax-incentive program for investing in the solutions, that theres a package there thats very, very good. And frankly, its something I would strongly support. [Frontline, 2/15/07]
February 15, 2007: I think if you have mandatory carbon caps combined with a trading system, much like we did with sulfur, and if you have a tax-incentive program for investing in the solutions, that theres a package there thats very, very good. And frankly, its something I would strongly support. [Frontline, 2/15/07]
In a debate on climate policy with Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), Gingrich says the evidence is sufficient that we should move towards the most effective possible steps to reduce carbon-loading of the atmosphere, and that we should do it urgently. [ThinkProgress, 4/10/07]
In a Washington Post chat, Gingrich rejects a cap-and-trade system, saying it would lead to corruption, political favoritism, and would have a huge impact on the economy. He says he supports tax credits for dramatically reducing carbon emissions. [Washington Post, 4/17/08]
2008: In an advertisement made for Al Gores Alliance for Climate Protection, Gingrich sat with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and said that we do agree our country must take action to address climate change. [We Campaign, 4/18/08]
I dont think that we have conclusive proof of global warming. And I dont think we have conclusive proof that humans are at the center of it. [Newt.org, 4/22/08]
April 4, 2009: And now, in 2009, instead of making energy cheaperwhich would help create jobs and save Americans moneyPresident Obama wants to impose a cap-and-trade regime. Such a plan would have the effect of an across-the-board energy tax on every American. That will make our artificial energy crisis even worseand raising taxes during a deep economic recession will only accelerate American job losses. [Newsweek, 4/4/09]
Let me fix that to: Cain = Tea Party Front Runner
Thursday, November 10th NEWEST POLLING:
Yes, we Cain!!!
Florida Republican Primary Quinnipiac CAIN 27, Romney 21, Gingrich 17, Perry 5, Paul 3, Bachmann 4, Huntsman 1, Santorum 1
Ohio Republican Primary Quinnipiac CAIN 25, Romney 20, Gingrich 11, Paul 9, Perry 4, Bachmann 4, Huntsman 2, Santorum 1
Pennsylvania Republican Primary Quinnipiac CAIN 17, Romney 17, Gingrich 13, Santorum 13, Paul 5, Bachmann 2, Huntsman 2
Excellent summary. I don’t think that Newt is the ultimate flipper flopper, but he’s certainly in the running. Or maybe he’s just better than Kerry and Romney at covering it up.
He doesnt have any desire whatever to save our country. He wants to return to power, and hell do anything to get back into power, as he proved, to take one example, when he sucked up to Steele and the RNC by shilling for Dede Scozzafava, even though he was thoroughly aware that she was as corrupt bribe taker and liberal spender who supported abortion on demand and gay marriage.
Or when he sucked up to Nancy Pelosi and supported her efforts to put cap and trade into effect and permanently bankrupt our energy industry.
Theres nothing he wont do to get back into power. And as he proved in his last term under Bill Clinton, theres nothing he wont do to stay in power."
Well said & totally true!!
What a shame it would be to reward him with the White House with the woman he had an affair with. Just what we need - an adulterer and Callista as First Lady!!
We don't need a 'great debator' to be our President. What else does he have to offer when he can't be trusted?
And on Fox News “Center Seat” the Couch Sitter did a mea culpa. If Gorebull Warming is the only thing he flip flops on the cereal adulterer may still be the best of the worst that’s electable.
Snarky? Youre not really serious right? How did he use Cains troubles in that piece? The worst thing said is that in their opinion Cain cant win. I tend to think they have a point and its not connected to Cains troubles.
Helllo... anyone ever heard of Bill Clinton or John Kennedy.
Newt could clearly make a case that a person’s morals do not dictate what kind of leader he will be.
Look at Obama - impeccable moral record (that we know of) and yet, one of the worst leaders of our nation.
Case study #2- JimmyCarter. Yep. Nice, moral man. HORRIBLE, disasterous leader.
Herman Cain. Not Newt. Giving Newt power always turns out badly.
