Mitt Romney was polite as he took his seat in coach next to Carolyn McClanahan of Jacksonville, Fla., on a recent Delta flight to Boston. He thanked her when she said she appreciated his efforts to reform health care as the governor of Massachusetts and even posed for a photo with her.
As a physician who heads a financial planning company and prides herself on having read every page of President Obamas health care reform bill, Ms. McClanahan, 47, recognized that its not every day youre seated next to a presidential candidate on a two-hour flight. According to Ms. McClanahan, about an hour into the flight which Mr. Romney mostly spent reading USA Today and using an iPad while wearing headphones she told him her idea for improving the American health care system: slashing overhead costs by switching to an electronic billing system.
He looked at me blankly and said, I understand, then put his iPad headphones in and kept reading, she said.
While Ms. McClanahan said Mr. Romney was probably exhausted, she was disappointed he showed so little interest. Even another passengers request for a restaurant recommendation in Boston elicited little from Mr. Romney, she said. I cant give you any, he said, according to Ms. McClanahan. Youll have to ask someone else.(continued)

Would she rather have BS artists like Clinton or Obama lie to her?

Now if Romney flew on a private jet he’d take heat on that also.
Not defending Romney...but has this story been vetted? Romney flying commercial? Coach? Alone, with no advisors?
I dislike Romney, but I HATE people who want to talk to me on an airplane!
WTH?
I smell BS. Presidential Candidates don’t travel alone. They have their staff with them. And that staff would be seated next to Romney.
Is she sure it wasn’t one of the paid double-actors to look like Romney? I think she got duped.
Smells like a stunt to me.
Probably easy to squeeze into that middle seat with all the snake oil he peddles.
When was this? I doubt Mitt would fly coach, but even if he did, he’d probably be sitting next to a staffer, likely a scheduler.
I think this is BS, or a stunt. Does anyone believe that Romney flies on a public carrier, or flies coach?
Puh-Leez.
And no security? Total BS.
Does seem odd. I am from Boston and know people who have worked for Romney, run into him in town or a store and every one of these folks said he was very friendly and down to earth.
His state police driver and he used to talk all the time when he was governor.
I really have to wonder about this article. I disagree with Mitt’s politics and I would not say the man was an arrogant jerk.
I’m no Romney fan, but after talking all day, they last thing I would want to do is gab for 2 hours with a stranger on a plane.
I’m guessing it was a Mitt Romney look-alike. I knew a guy who looked like Tom Selleck’s identical twin. Same dimples even. Rather than get into a long discussion with people that he wasn’t Tom or have people get upset, he just let people take pictures with him.
I once flew one row behind Rudy Guiliani coming back from Europe (business class). He and his travel companion were the last on the plane and the first off. I never saw him in the lounge before the flight so he must have been in a private security area until everyone else had boarded and was already seated. I was the third person off the plane at JFK and he had two uniformed NYC police escorts and a third person from immigration meet him at the door and walk with him down the jetway and through immigration and customs.
I suspect at the least her bio is fiction, “physician AND head of a financial planning co.”, yet her only comment on Obama’a foolish healthcare plan (which she also says she has read in it's entirety) is to switch to electronic billing? Planted article to give credibility to Obamacare and knock Romney. Figures that the one thing that I'd respect about him (ignoring her) is probably fiction.
I think I would have asked to change seats...
“WTH?

I agree. I despise Romney and find him totally repulsive and rarely do I pass up an opportunity to take a shot at him, but this sounds like a total setup. First off, I doubt Romney’s flown coach for decades (if ever). Second, as you say, if he were on a commercial flight at all (which is highly unlikely given his multi-million dollar campaign budget), he would be surrounded by staff and security detail. They’d probably have most of the first-class seats booked up.
No-this is total BS, and it’s no big surprise that the NY Times ran with it. Just shows how little credibility they have these days.
