Lies, Lies, And Darned Lies - Ohio Unions Really Shoveling It Out

Now that Ohio's Akron Beacon Journal has revealed that the anti Issue 2 union people are campaigning with nearly four more times the amount of money of the pro Issue 2 folks, I have a few questions to ask, including where does that anti Issue 2 money come from? Taxpayers, I believe. So, we are paying the Pro 2 campaigners to increase our taxes. I would also like to know, what are their honest objections to the issue? Ohio's public employees, like every state's public employees, are sitting on a nearly a 100 billion dollar war chest (donated by tax payers), which gives them an enormous amount money to fight us in the private sector, who earn an average of 30 dollars per hour, compared to the public employee's 40 dollar an hour income, including benefits. Here are just a few of the objections as seen recently in Ohio newspapers:

One objection is, that if we cause the elimination of so many public employees, the private sector will suffer because of the lack of public employee wages available to feed the Ohio economy. However, if we taxpayers pay less to public employees, will that not leave us with more of our own money to spend - in Ohio market places? P.S. If issue 2 is defeated, there certainly will be massive layoffs of public employees.

Another anti Issue 2 remark I gleaned from the Beacon's Voice of the People is, 'We cannot trust politicians, but we should trust our public employees.' Since the public employees are highly politically biased, they must also be classified as politicians - constantly politicking for more of our money.

Another argument is that Governor Kasich profited from Lehman brothers, and has never attempted to jail any of the CEOs who were responsible for the 2008 economic crash. It was the Democrats who were in power at the time, and they had no mind to punish anyone (including financial institutions), who have contributed so heavily to President Obama and other Democrats.

Worse of all, the scare tactic TV commercials have guaranteed that if Senate Bill 5 is effected, we will all have to live in a sort of a post apocalyptic, Mad Max environment fearing for our safety 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I am sorry that public employees would have to pay a bit more (much less than the rest of us) toward their health benefits and retirement, yet we must learn to live within our governmental budgets. I hate to say this, but there are thousands of unemployed Ohioans who would line up to work for the government at much less wages.

Cries of "Union Busting," "Return to Robber Baron Days," and "Killing Off Unions," and other epithets have been among the more absurd battle cries. I would have preferred that fire and police negotiations be separated from the teachers' bargaining, and possibly, each city can get better deals for their local safety forces. They would certainly have more of a fight, though, from Democrat city mayors, but we the people would support separate levies to pay for fire and police.

I appreciate all of our public employees, but we just cannot afford to pay them what we have in total salaries and benefits.

If folks in Ohio would like a preview of coming attractions if they continue to allow public employee unions to run amok, I cordially invite them to check out the mess that is NYS. We're bleeding red ink, people, private sector jobs, and are about to lose 2 House seats. During a recent hiring freeze, NYS hired over 50,000 new employees we don't have the money to pay for and inspite of the decline in our population.

Question for folks in Ohio: You want that for yourselves and your state?! Are you NUTS?!

Working hard I assure you. Must remain covert because you are talking about law enforcement here. Hopefully, there are enough people in Ohio that can do mathematic functions but we are talking about including the Teachers Unions.

There are a lot of first responders, teachers, nurses, doctors and other public servants who are tea party members who do not want SB5 to remain on the books. My guess is you don’t shoot your own foot.

Where does their money come from? It comes from the Gov’t!

And no push back from publicity either; extremely few lawn signs anywhere; lots of scary commercials with people being threatened that they're gonna' die and their houses will burn down.

Whatever Kasich did was pathetic as far as getting our side publicized. Very poor planning, and this'll probably go down in defeat.

Let's see; the State-Run-Media gives FREE air-time to Leftists, the reporting is Left-biased, you put ANY non-Democrat Bumper Sticker on your car and it gets keyed, egged, or worse, you drive through a major city in Ohio with ANY anti-Democrat markings on your vehicle and risk assault or gunshots....

Yeah; Conservatives can go public if they want to risk their homes and families to Union thugs and parasitic Leftists.

How about we do it at the Ballot Box?

I've said many times here before; if the Republican Legislature doesn't have Bill all ready to pass as soon as Issue 2 is defeated, they deserve being thrown out of Office next Election.

Likewise, Kasich MUST implement employee reductions without the savings from the SB 5 that would have been realized.

Additionally, a COMPLETE AUDIT of Union Dues and their trail to the DNC should be ordered.

The BEST piece of Legislation would be to make Ohio a Right-to-Work State, and remove Union Dues from being paid through payroll deduction. Let the Unions collect their Dues directly from Members, not have the State doing their collections for them.

That'll be the day that frogs grow wings so they don't bump their a$$ when they land.

Cop out. There were plenty of tea party rallies tax day 09, summer of 09 and throughout 10. They weren't too busy too rally then.

Too many tea party folks are hurt by this measure. I believe that's the problem.

If Issue 2 is defeated, we will see how opponents of Issue 2 respond to possible higher local taxes, cuts in services, and layoffs. Businesses will look elsewhere.

We were in Michigan in the Detroit area a few weeks ago and were warned by a local to avoid the city of Pontiac, because they can no longer afford a police force!
Yesterday a number of outlets reported the Detroit suburb of Highland Park cannot afford strret lights.

This will happen in Ohio if Issue 2 fails.

the 100 billion dollar war chest is the retirement and other reserves socked away by the public employees in Ohio. The interest alone on that makes them filthy rich enough to buy anybody, and all the advertising they like.

If I change it to little noticeable pushback?

The purpose is there was a time not so long ago that Issue 2 would have been a rallying call and the tea party's would be out in mass. Issue 2 should be that rallying call.

And let's face it. That web page show a very tepid tea event.
