Falls Church, Virginia (CNN) -- Garrulous and active, 79-year-old Joy Bricker presides over her hotel suite in a manner befitting a grander home. She offers tea to the staff and media with the ease of a person schooled in proper etiquette.
Like many hotel guests, Bricker has learned to make herself feel comfortable, making her room a home away from home. Only, Bricker has called the Towne Place Suites by Marriott, in Falls Church, Virginia, home for more than 10 years.
A former pilot, the 5-foot tour de force is finally turning in her key card, as movers wait to carry off the few labeled belongings she'd brought in to room 202.

I’ve stayed in some of those long-term suites and thought it would be really nice to just rent a suite instead of an apartment. (If I had to live in an apartment, that is). Maid service, security, reasonable price, etc.
I just checked into a “Residence Inn” by Marriot. I could live here. My first apartment was way smaller, and here I don’t have to cook my own breakfast!
If she stayed in a Holiday Inn for 10 years, she would have been a genius by now.
And, free wifi!
I was very tempted to do just that at one point.
I was single at the time, and the rent would have been $800/month... with all utilities *and* cable TV included, as well as maid service once a week. The cost was almost exactly equal what I’d pay for an apartment, plus utilities and TV, but minus the maid service.
I finally decided against it because I found a great deal on an apartment that ended up with total costs about $200 less per month.
Uuuuhhh, that would be the “Holiday Inn Express”....LOL
From reading the entire article she sounds like a remarkable and independent Lady. Hope she does well with her church work!

I know a guy that is. He has been a guest for 3 years now. No indication he will get his own place as the hotel has been really good to him.
I stayed in the same hotel for several years.
I liked it.
Bar, restaurant, room service, TV, VCR, stereo, Kitchen, maid service, Pool, hot tub, BBQ.
Years ago, my cousin on a business trip asked the check-in receptionist why it’s called ‘EXPRESS’ and she bluntly explains so “it wasn’t built for long-term stays”. Then she charges my cousin an extra $$$ for “amenities tax” for the next 10 days even though my cuz’ only booked for 3 days for a nearby medical symposium.
“And how many nights will you be staying with us?”
“3,650.”
I like this particular live version of the same song.

Dangit, what is with Falls Church?
Get the heck off of my lawn.
You know where this city got its name? The Church at the falls.
Geo. Mason wa a rector in the church, as was Goe. Washington. Of course, the uninionists ripped out their pews, and used the space for a stable.
The Falls Church is full of cannonballs. From Union Cannonades.
Me too.
That was neat. Joe Walsh finished it off nicely.
This live version of “New York Minute” is pretty darn good, too!

I have the CD. Hell Freezes Over. In fact, I have two in case one disappears. One on my car and one in the house. I LOVE the whole thing. There is not one bad track on it.
