Am I alone ?

Posted on 11/01/2011 3:32:08 PM PDT by Java4Jay

I’m excited about Herman Cain. I got on the Cain Train months ago with a financial contribution and am proudly displaying a Cain 2012 bumper sticker on my car today.

But with these harassment accusations, I witnessed a weak defense from the Cain camp. Herman often stated a key to success is surrounding yourself with a good team but this is where my concern lays.

If his team can’t handle a proper response here, how will he handle a real emergency?

I say that they are saying all they can.

Levin is talking about this right now. Cain could possibly be bound by confidentiality agreement which would explain why there is some hesitation with details.

Yes, Cain could have waited a day, gotten all his ducks in a row so he could present himself perfectly to the press. That is what a politician would have done. He tackled it the first day.

Many people appreciate that about Cain. Most felt that the way he handled things showed integrity and honesty - and they felt they could trust him. Many are off the fence now and supporting Cain. And he had his biggest day in donations ever yesterday.

This isn’t about being perfect, it is about integrity and honesty. I don’t care whether Cain says all the right things, I Care that he DOES the right things so in that sense, heck yeah I trust him in an emergency, more than any politician I know.

Your “concern” is properly noted.

Cain handled it without it adding to the deficit , my current or future tax liabilities or harming anyone.

That’s as good as handling a crises as I require.

A+

If anything, it’s made more people familiar with Cain, and I figure a majority of these people who just discovered him, will end up liking him....so in the end, it will be a positive.

Watch his C-Span duo debate with Gingrich. If the level of discourse in that debate elevates constitutional principle to its rightful place as our best protection for liberty, then we will know his depth and foundations, and that of his fellow debater.

In 2012, only a true defender of liberty will have the skills to uncloak and reveal the philosophy of tyranny which currently threatens to destroy the Republic.

I believe he is innocent of these accusations, it’s his response that’s hurting him.

But the media is eating this up. Instead of his plan to be in Washington to promote himself, he is now on the defense.

He should have held a one time press conference with all the facts and move on.

Keep in mind, Cain did not think he had anything to worry about since he knew he had not harassed any one, sexually or otherwise. He was not exactly sitting on a beach vacation pondering the detailed response. This man is in his 60’s, and doing dozens of appearances/speeches/planning sessions every day.

Give me one good reason why Cain should spend time trying to remember every detail, of this frivolous event in his mind?
How many details do you remember of incidents from 12 years ago which you deemed to be non-important? I don’t!

Cain is spelling out details as they are now coming to his mind, and only because he is being grilled continuously. I am quite satisfied, and sent him cash yesterday to show my support.

not this constant revolving story.

I listened to Cain's response, both at National Press Club and on Greta. It seemed fine. Not sure what else there is to say.

But it's going to be a revolving story that the media will squeeze for all it's worth, regardless of whatever Cain says or doesn't say, because they desperately want to sink him.

I’m not sure what Cain’s response should have been, or what his team could have done in his defense. Remember that Cain is an outsider, and his team lacks the the spit and polish of a well honed establishment candidate, but that’s what I like about it. As the race continues, and especially after Cain wins the Republican nomination, there will be more experts and PR people surrounding him.

They knew ahead of time this may be coming out

Java4Jay--I have some salaciously damaging info about you. I'll give you three minutes to be prepared for your defense of the allegations before I let loose the hounds of hell. It relates to something you did at work 15 years ago. Get your P's and Q's in order!

Are you ready yet? Do you have your press release ready yet? Why not?

Meanwhile, the adults in the room helped make yesterday and today Herman Cain's biggest yet for donations. This whole smear campaign stinks like three day old fish.

"They knew ahead of time this may be coming out and should have had all their P’s and Q’s in order beforehand, not this constant revolving story."

If this was a "true scandal", you would be correct. However, judging by their response, it was a non issue, with no withstanding.

People who do wrong know they have done wrong and "prepare", as you have stated.

Obviously, this isn't one of those times. If the Cain Train had "prepared" responses to these ludicrous allegations, they WOULD have been prepared.

Tawana Brawley anyone?

What about his response is hurting him? He denied the allegations, told the public what happened via multiple sources, his supporters accepted it and are sending him money hand over first. Sounds like a net positive to me.

You said his story “revolved”? What changed and how? Show me the part where his story changed at all.
