What have been the Sexual Harassment charges filed against the officers and ordinary employees of Politico?
That expresses my attitude toward these allegations perfectly.
Most mere “sexual harassment” (as opposed to “sexual abuse”, “sexual assault”) charges should not be adjudicated at all, because most (I said “most” not all) fail the standards needed for every other “crime”.
Most cannot show that the person who the charges are laid against knew they were committing a crime and most cannot show that the person charged had any ill intent in their actions. Most of all that can be shown most frequently (MOST frequently) is the person making the charge claims to have perceived the actions of the person charged as intended sexual harassment.
In other words neither motive or intent of the guilty is needed, just the claimed perception of the accused.
I perceive (I feel, I interpret) your actions a certain way and therefor they are that way. That’s the proof for sexual harassment.
Or, to put it another way, it is as if the accuser can say: “If I feel its harassment, then my feelings prove it was harassment.”
So, the accuser can make mistakes in interpreting (or in claiming to have an interpretation of) the actions of the accused, yet, it is the accusation, the feelings of teh accuser (rightly or wrongly developed) that stands as proof that it was harassment; unlike and in a manner unlike any other offense that can be brought to court.
The good news is, most (MOST) of these cases do not get to court, and that is most likely a good thing.
However, sexual harassment cases are cases where once charged, forever guilty; in the minds of most people.
