Obama 44%, Cain 38% OCT 25, 2011 • BY JEFFREY H. ANDERSON The latest Rasmussen poll of likely voters shows that, over the past week, the gap between President Obama and Herman Cain has swung 8 points in Obama’s favor.

In a poll released shortly before the last Republican presidential debate, Rasmussen showed Cain leading Obama by 2 percentage points in a head-to-head matchup (43 to 41 percent). This week’s poll, taken after that debate and after Cain’s abortion comments late last week, shows Obama now leading by 6 points (44 to 38 percent).

Among independents, Cain was ahead by 19 points last week (48 to 29 percent), but that gap has now vanished —

Yes. I am happy with his position on the border, much happier than with the Texas Panderer.

Since it is patently obvious that Perry and Romney cannot beat Obama, and now you say that Cain cannot, who else can?

You make too much sense... You must be a troll. Only we can lose this election. I like Cain, but he cannot win.

Do you mean he cannot win the primary or the general? If he wins the primary and you like him, why do you think he cannot win the general?

If you like him then why wouldn't vote for him in the primary, unless, like Quinn says, every thing before the word but, is bullshit.

Cain was for frying mexicans

Deep fry or pan fry?

I thought it was more like open air electriFRY.

If you give an electric shock to an ILLEGAL ALIEN climbing a barrier fence, and they happen to be a Latino, is that the same as frying a Mexican?

Obama will never get less than 40%, even if he ate a baby in prime time on national TV for Halloween and prayed for the nation to practice voodoo

Please don't temp him!

Cain is doing none of us good by alienating hispanics. My wife is Latina and LOVES Herman Cain from day one. She was always skeptical about Palin running since she's a "show me" kind of gal. I know that even you realize Cain's comments were tongue in cheek.

She sees Perry as an incompetent debater and arrogant orator. She finds romney simply unacceptable.

Cain is attracting the Latinos we want and need just fine.

how can there be that many stupid people?

There is no shortage of them, and Obama is counting on their votes.

Who’s this “Huntsman”.

Didn’t he work for China or something?

Interesting...Huntsman even with Cain against Obama.

Oh wait, this poll isn’t flattering to Cain. Must be a bs/push/liberal-loving poll.

Please everyone vote for the establishment candidate, a true conservative can never win, go ahead, throw your vote away. Look at our track record, we gave you Dole, we gave you McCain, you held your nose and voted for them and you can do it again. Please continue with us in our great mission.

Exactly. Cain was up, now is down, after Barry had a ton of favorable press coverage about how he "got" Khaddafi and after Cain was the center of GOP attacks in the debate. And STILL Barry can't get over 44%? And half the country doesn't know who Cain is???

Gimme a break. McCain led Barry by five points the week before Wall Street went up in smoke. Polls can be quite volatile, and for Cain to do this well so early is nothing short of amazing.

I'm not too worried about these early polls for one simple reason - this election is going to have everything to do with the level of enthusiasm the candidates can generate with their supporters.

many of the people who state in this poll that they would vote for Obama probably won't even vote, when you come right down to it. They are "passive" supporters who will be too [busy|sleepy|high|drunk|apathetic] to actually go down to the polls to vote. It's easy to support someone when the phone rings and a pollster asks you for your preference. Actually going down to the polling place on election day requires effort.

Cain supporters, you may have noticed, are FIRED UP and can't wait to get in the voting booth and pull the lever. Let me vote NOW!

I doubt the same can be said for Obama supporters.

Obama let slip his plan for victory. Survivor or clear the field elections.

Obama is going to “clear the field” by simply eliminating his opponent via scandal. Obama is doing nothing to avoid any overt scandal. This is why the MSM is ignoring so much.

Frankly I think Cain’s dip can be attributed to the attacks on 9-9-9. He took a lot of hits last week and didn’t properly refute them. Until he does, his numbers will not climb.

Oh my, just ask me! an establishment Republican? What a laugh. I am a conservative Republican and an activist to boot. I work on politics full time and I am running for a County Commissioner position in Mohave County against a 2 term Republican incumbent who just voted to raise our taxes. So please don’t insult me.

I can’t stand Romney and he will not be the nominee. I am on the Newt train. I believe he is the only one with the stature, ideas and experience to change the course of the country. I would like to see a Gingrich/Cain ticket. I just don’t think Cain has the experience right now to make it
through. Plus, I woukd pay big bucks to see a debate between Obama and Gingrich.

I have seen Cain speak live twice. He brought down the house. He touches people at an emotional level. I have seen gingrich twice. Gingrich is ethereal... Together, I think together they are terrific.

At the Western Republican Leadership Conference last week Frank Lutz reminded us who it was during those dark days between 1992-1994 who formed the positive message, crafted the plan and got it done to form the Republican Revolution of 1994.

In my opinion, there’s only one choice on that stage.
