I expect Gov. Perry’s flat tax plan to give him a significant boost in the polls.
Many conservative and Republican voters who were initially attracted to Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan were likely enthused with the idea of bringing simplicity, transparency, and fairness to our tax system. Still, as details of Cain’s plan – and the additional consumption tax – unfolded, voters have been looking for an alternative. In fact, despite Cain's recent surge, his tax plan is likely the reason there’s still so much uncertainty surrounding him as a candidate.
By putting forth a promising – and more realistic tax proposal – Perry not only distinguishes himself from Cain, but also demonstrates that he is committed to fiscal conservatism in a way voters continue to suspect Romney is not. The fact is Perry’s plan does more than simply address the tax system. It also focuses on balancing the federal budget, entitlement reform, and economic growth.
It’s hard to imagine this announcement won’t strengthen Perry’s position in the Republican field.
Perry is done. It doesn’t matter what he proposes.
What would “strengthen his position” is for him to drop out and throw his support wholeheartedly behind the only electable true Conservative in the race: Herman Cain.
Push on, Rick Perry! Push on past Ron Paul for fourth place in the polls!

We are so far away from the election that a lot of the discussion about who should be in and who should be out is a bit of a waste of time. Except for Huntsman:)
I have never been a big Perry fan. All you have to do is look at some of my past posts prior to Perry jumping in to see my issues with Perry. In fact, CW, I got in your face time and again when it came to Perry. But, I have to be practical. Mitt Romney is just not a conservative and is dangerous for the country. Cain should be lauded for bringing the income tax issue in. I would support him if he had money and structure underneath him. The fact is that you have to have people on the ground who have experience at the game. Cain lacks that. Bachmann creeps me out. Newt is an uber-insider who flips around too much and is an easy target due to his personal issues. I know Ron Paul personally and he will never be president. Even if he gets better eyebrow glue. The rest of the cast of characters are just not on my radar. Except Perry who has the experience, money and structure to take on Obama.
Remember Obama? He is the focus and the guy who is funding his campaign with public money washed through cronyism and unions. It is going to take a very well funded and very well organized campaign to beat him. Anyone that does not agree with that has never worked on a presidential campaign.
I want Obama gone so badly I HAVE to support Perry for now. No choice.
First he imitates Gov. Palin and tries to be a “tea partier,” then he imitates Mr. Cain with a flat tax, and also he’s imitating Mr. Trump with the birth certificate issue? What next, will he say “all we have to fear is fear itself,” call for an audit of the Federal Reserve, say “Every Man A King,” talk about a cross of gold or promise to get us out of Vietnam?
A large multinational dog food company decided to come out with the latest and greatest dog food.
They had their research scientists design the most nutritious combination of ingredients, containing all the essential vitamins and amino acids required by dogs.
They had the marketing department put together a most colorful advertisement and a catchy jingo was thought up for their TV commercial.
And they spent gobs of money on TV advertising and splashy full page magazine ads.
The engineers designed equipment to make this dog food in the most efficient manner, and the packaging department designed a beautiful box for it.
The sales force was trained, and every supermarket chain had shelf space devoted to the dog food.
It did not sell.
So the company CEO gathered his top executives together to have a meeting to discover why. He asked each department, “Why isn’t our dog food selling?”
The research department said there couldn’t possibly be anything wrong with their formulation. Marketing was completely stumped. The sales force was mystified. No one had a clue as to what was wrong.
Finally, after a long pause, a new employee sitting in the back of the room finally got up the courage to say:
“The dogs don’t like it!”
Instead of `strategerizing’ with his hired hands, maybe Governor Perry should sit down with his beautiful wife and consider the blunt question:
“Why don’t the dogs like `Perry Kibbles’?
Yes, he is done, at least as far as US presidency is concerned. Mexican Presidency is still possible.
I was initially excited about him, but let’s face it: My garage door is more intelligent than Perry (now we know why he avoided debates in TX elections) so he would be crushed in State Media interviews and in debates against O’s teleprompter.
Besides, he is hard-core pro-illegal, insulting americans who oppose illegal immigration.

It’s out of control.
Rick Perry is going to come back. Mittens is in for some surprises and Cain just can’t raise the funds to compete. Cain has a lot of sweet talk but I been there and done that. He has a good rap like Bammy Boy did but that’s all it is. I like Cain for being honest and forthright but he is over the hill. His best years are behind him (cancer scare) were 20 years ago running God Fathers pizza which I give him total credit for.
Go Rick go and come out for a border fence. Then all will be forgiven. Come out for American national sovereignty Rick and all will be forgiven (at least by me) Get smart Rick. Your energy program is a winner but you have to have other intelligent ideas.
I like Paul but I don't want him as president.
I don't like Bachmann.
I don't want Romney as president.
What puzzles me is the mind-numbing hatred some Freepers feel towards Perry.
Perry is conservative and would be a fine president.
What will he say next?
“All we have to fear is fear itself,”
Call for a Paulist audit of the Federal Reserve,
Do a Huey---promise to make “Every Man A King,”
Talk about a "cross of gold;"
Maybe Ricky will promise to get us out of Vietnam?

These are signs of his desperation. He's so dam corrupt, he has no idea how to act outside Texas. Even more scary---he's clueless as to how tranparent he is---that the voters can see through his desperate con games.
He cunningly announced on the day of the Iowa caucuses---never spending a dime or a minute in the state.....stomping allover the actual winners. His debates have segued from bad to worse with his numbers sinking into oblivion.
Nows Perry expects voters to say," We anoint you as president---here's the silver platter."
Fat chance.

We need to pull together as you said IT IS OBAMA that is our target.
HAVE to support Perry works for you.
I WANT to support Perry but the key words are "SUPPORT PERRY!"
Fear is for other folks. I don't fear anyone. Certainly not anyone here. Even the big cheese that runs the place. Why should I? Most Freepers are pretty cool folks. At times they can get wound up but at the end of the day all the lovers of our Republic are on the same basic page. Sure, there are some plants, stooges and zottables here. But the forum never blinks and after a time these types get identified or weeded out.
American presidential politics is a bare knuckled fist fight. It is a war. That is a fact. The presidential game is not for the timid and it should not be. The last thing you want is another wimp like a John McCain as your candidate.
Some folks looked at Perry and Santorum taking it to Romney's face as something less than desirable. As if they have to have tea with the RINO Romney. They don't. The candidates can set their own jaws and speak what they want. Perry made that clear to one debate moderator. It is a good thing when these people get visceral and real. The more warts revealed the better I say. And that goes to their records. I have bashed Perry many a time on in-state tuition and sanctuary cities. I can bash Newt on a lot of things. The same goes for Ron Paul who has been in Washington for decades and has never passed a law he has written that I know of. I can't bash Cain because he has no record. Because he has no record I won't support him unless he becomes the nominee. Remember Obama? He had no record to look at either.
Blowback? I don't care about that here. This place is warm and fuzzy to me. No matter what gets thrown my way. Actually, it is kind of fun. We peel back the onion here. As we do that no candidate will be a pretty and smooth and clean. Every one of them will make us tear up.
At the end of the day we need a scrapper. A street fighter. Someone who has gone to war in politics and has won. I'm betting that is what we will get and that we will put this great nation on an even keel. This country has not seen its best days. They are ahead. Obama is just a speed bump that we will soon be seeing in our rear view mirror....

Nothing wrong with debate on issues.
That’s not what I meant by blowback. The ‘out of control’ was referencing things that aren’t issues debates but what I consider the meanest of gutter politics based on the lowest of low personal stuff.
Things that, if when growing up in my home, had I ever said them about anybody, no matter who they were, my family would’ve come down on me like a ton of bricks.
We don’t speak of anyone like that, in this house...do you understand?
My about page makes that point, among others.
But if it seems like a rollicking good time to you, instead of sick, ok.
