Take this article and others I found to the fight to the Libs on their own turf; put the Left on the defensive at Digg and at Reddit and in Stumbleupon and Delicious
We have watermains and sewermains all over the place, too. That’s how we convey these “goods” because the lines can be capped and extended and looped.
Are all of those listed on the map still functioning? As I understand it; they are not buried very deep underground and often carry inert gas when not active.
They are designed to transport both liquids and gases - under pressure. No, not at the same time;)
When I was a kid, there was a break in a gasoline pipeline near my grandfather’s farm. My dad took me there where, along with dozens of others, people skimmed it off a pond into containers to take home. This was when gasoline was about 20 cents a gallon. I don’t remember any lasting damage to the area. If this happened today it would be a huge disaster. Back then it was an opportunity, with the men nervously joking “I hope nobody decides to light a cigarette”.
A lot more than one.
That will never happen. Just like the Alaska pipeline the only way this pipeline will be built is by electing a Republican President and Congress at the same time, then building the pipeline as fast as possible before some activist judge shuts down construction. If they think they can pull it off they'd better start pipe stockpiles now all over because they will have to move fast.
I am particular to having Natural Gas piped directly into my house. They should do the same with beer.
Do you remember the huge media fuss there was prior to building the Alaska pipeline? It was gonna end the caribou and who knows what else. In fact once the pipeline was built the caribou tended to congregate near the pipeline since it was a source of warmth for them.
Here is an article that revisits the doom and gloom prophecies of the enviro crowd in the 1970s. http://www.mrc.org/bmi/news/2006/_Alaska_Pipeline_Doomsayings_Revisited_.html
Abuse of the word "literally" -- 5 yard penalty from the point of the infraction.
I know many who would agree with you.
You’re right about needing to get it done quickly; soon as a Democrat became president he or she would shut it down real quick.

The map is misleading as it depicts the U.S. Natural Gas Pipeline Network, 2009. The American Petroleum Institution has the oil pipeline map.

You were lucky.
In 1976 I lived near this pipeline accident were a gasoline pipeline under Venice Blvd. in LA was hit by construction equipment.
The area looked like is was hit by a bomb with flattened buildings. Nine were killed and seven building destroyed.

I presume shipping crude is much safer than shipping refined product, hence the long pipeline to the refineries in TX.
You are literally busting his hump.
20 yard penalty, loss of down.
Great catch; took a look at API’s map. Funny how Nevada has almost no pipelines.
Note the emphasis on safety:
“A comparison of three-year spill averages for the periods 1999-2001 and 2007-2009 shows a 59 percent decrease in the number of spills per 1,000 miles of pipeline and a 41 percent decrease in the volume spilled per 1,000 miles of pipeline.”
The libs have engaged in a disinformation campaign that distorts the record. They always take an isolated case or a rare event and use it to attack things they don’t like or that that threaten their plans for more big government.
