Last December, GOP presidential contender Herman Cain penned an interesting article about Jesus Christ that has been resurrected (no pun intended) and is getting some attention in the blogosphere. Published just five days before Christmas, the piece claims that Jesus was a perfect conservative and that he changed the world for the better.
In his article, Cain goes on to explain, though, the reasons why he believes that to be true. He writes:
He helped the poor without one government program. He healed the sick without a government health care system. He [fed] the hungry without food stamps. And everywhere He went, it turned into a rally, attracting large crowds, and giving them hope, encouragement and inspiration. For three years He was unemployed, and never collected an unemployment check. Nevertheless, he completed all the work He needed to get done. He didnt travel by private jet. He walked and sailed, and sometimes traveled on a donkey.

Perfect!
Maybe... just maybe... the libtard media’s heads will ALL EXPLODE over something Cain says and we will be rid of them
From the comments on the site link, this is an old article from when Cain was a minister and not a politician and was in response to claims Jesus was gay and a liberal.
Perfectly asinine misuse of the Gospel.
Thank you. Not so bad in that context.
I’m skittish about drawing the one-of-a-kind Christ into comparison with modern political scenarios. This is interesting, but it isn’t really deep theology and could be misleading. Pontius Pilate was personally inclined to do the right thing — he understood that the charges being hurled at this strange Jesus of Nazareth were nonsense — but he ended up selling out to the crowd. That’s plain old corruption, not “liberal.”
—Perfectly asinine misuse of the Gospel.—
I thought it was great. It does what a sermon is supposed to do, cause the listener to ask questions and think about their beliefs. I wonder in what context it was said...
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Pilate sounds more like a modern day RINO.
Actually it was the conservatives who were persecuting Christ. The Pharisees were about as conservative as you get. I’m just agreeing with those above who said that this was a completely ridiculous analogy to make.
This guy is the only running Republican I’ll leave the house to vote for.....
There’s a time to avoid trouble by retreating, and a time to stop, turn, and tell your emboldened pursuer “bring it you bastard.”
As far as I’m concerned, a Cain presidency will buy a little more retreat. Any other, and I say let Obama win.
Ironically the original Cain in the Bible was the very first libtard. Cain envied his brother Able to the point of hate then murder. Herman Cain is the anti-Cain.
Church sermons aren’t the place for subtle irony, lest the main gospel message be missed. IMHO. I wouldn’t say that’s so much asinine as clumsy.
The essence of conservatism.
Christian love comes from charity, not from social engineers who have power to decide who is neediest.
Bottom line...FREEDOM to give, work, live...that's the American way.
Kind of Mitt-ish wouldn’t you say.
I didn’t notice it was a sermon when he said it. Personally, I don’t like politics in my sermons.
Oh FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
I cannot believe some of the responses on this thread. I posted that article on Free Republic when Cain wrote it - it was at Christmas time on North Star writers (a Christian publication) and I thought it was beautiful. No it was not a “perfect analogy” because there is no such thing as a perfect analogy.
Here is the whole piece:
He was not born into a royal family, but He left a royal impression on the world.
For 30 years, He learned the ways of the world without becoming of the world. He then changed the world for the better.
He led without a mandate. He taught without a script. His common sense parables filled people with promise and compassion, His words forever inspiring.
Power.
He never condemned what others believed just sin, evil and corruption.
He helped the poor without one government program. He healed the sick without a government health care system. He feed the hungry without food stamps.
But they made Him walk when He was arrested and taken to jail, and no, He was not read any Miranda Rights. He was arrested for just being who He was and doing nothing wrong. And when they tried Him in court, He never said a mumbling word.
He didnt have a lawyer, nor did He care about who judged Him.
His judge was a higher power.
The liberal court found Him guilty of false offences and sentenced Him to death, all because He changed the hearts and minds of men with an army of 12.
His death reset the clock of time.
Never before and not since has there ever been such a perfect conservative.
For over 2,000 years the world has tried hard to erase the memory of the perfect conservative, and His principles of compassion, caring and common sense.
His followers are now millions and millions the world over, as those who resent Him have intensified their attacks on who He was and what His followers believe.
The attacks are disguised as political correctness, or a misunderstanding of the First Amendment to the Constitution. Separation of Church and State does not mean Separation of Church from State. The State cannot impose Church on the people, but the people can display and say as much Church in the public square as they desire.
Our Founders recognized that distinction, which helped to inspire the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the founding of this nation The United States of America!
We must be the Defending Fathers and the defenders of the perfect conservative.
Thats why I proudly wish one and all a very Merry Christmas!

So in that respect...they were like liberals of today: Do as I say...not as I do. There is a reason they left from oldest to the youngest when Christ began to write in the dirt. They were GUILTY of the same sin they were charging the woman for.
