In the aftermath of a successful performance in recent debates, our latest poll shows a surge in support for businessman Herman Cain among Texas Republican voters.

“Cain is even taking Texas! “
Other than the Perry Girls, we’ve been trying to tell the country that the governor is NOT popular with CONSERVATIVES here in Texas...in fact, he’s kind of a kook (i.e., Gardacil, Trans-Texas Corridor, Coddling Illegals, etc.). He got to the governor’s mansion because Bush-43 became president and has yet to be challenged by a conservative (which is why he stays in office). No different that Sheila Jackson-Lee, in that regard (except the other side of the aisle).
Stop by some recent border threads like this one to see how far a Perry supporter (several in fact) will go do defend open borders and excuse their candidate.

Start from the beginning.
I am SOOOOO looking forward to the day I can once again open Free Republic and not be barraged by RINOs and Liberals.
I love you South40. What a lucky bunch we are to have you on Free Republic. Giving us the truth about Perry is a very selfless thing you do for us and it is appreciated. The stench that is Perry is so evident that Texas is dumping his dumb a$$. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I was one of those Texans. As soon as people started talking about Perry running for president, I was telling people to slow down. People have been vicious.
Texas? Ouch, Rick, I bet that left a mark.
Mexicans (as in citizens of Mexico) can’t vote in Texas because you need proof of citizenship to get a TXDL to use as a picture ID at the voting booth. (along with actually being on the rolls)
Dave Nalle, whose polling firm, Azimuth, recently released a poll showing Congressman Ron Paul in front of Texas Governor Rick Perry by five points among Texas Republicans, admitted this week, Maybe we got too many live responses from people who live in certain sections of the state. It wasnt intentional, but it looks from the numbers that we caught a lot more people at home in the Houston area than we expected to, out of proportion with the rest of the state, and that includes the area that Paul represents.
So that calls into question whether Paul led in that poll. Which is a different poll than the one we are talking about.
All polls have this thing called margin of error.
I watched, he made Romney look measured and reasonable. Good grief I can't believe I said that.......
Not to put a damper on things, but this is from July 15:
Are you saying the poll was from that time? Cain would not get 33 percent in July and Perry fortunately for all of us had not even announced yet.....to bad it was not still the case.
“this is from July 15”
Wrong.
Poll Date: 10/12-10/17, 2011
WOW. Perry has lost TEXAS? Insane in the Cainbrane.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA!
Perry is a fraud. And I take solace knowing I do all I can do, little as it may be, to prevent him from ever occupying our White House.
Thanks again, FRiend. :-)
So they keep electing Perry? That doesn't add up. Posts # 30 has a far more logical theory. This is a fraud poll from disreputable people. Cain has done nothing campaign wise to show me that he deserves such a huge lead there.
The polling guy admits they polled at a time when they got ‘too many people’ at home.
What time is that?
I would guess that would be working hours when the rest of us are working.
And who are the people home then? The people who are not working.
Liberals in Texas hate Perry almost as much as the Cain posters.
But to say he’s not popular in Texas is ridiculous. He’s never lost an election here and he won governor easily over someone who was considered a formidable candidate—Kaye Bailey Hutchison.
The only winner last night was the DNC and Obama. It started out as a dog pile on Herman Cain, and then Gov. Perry started tearing at Gov. Romney which started a pretty good feud. It appeared that Gov. Perry was trying to salvage his floundering campaign by being fiesty, but I doubt whether it won him many converts. There were too many people egging him on saying it was do or die time. The one who was damaged the least was Newt because he tried to stay above the fray and no one went after him because he is not a major player. If our candidates keep it up Obama will be looking at a second term.
Romney supporters Rudy Giuliani supporters and open borders advocates. Wow. I guess 'conservative' has a different meaning to some.
“So they keep electing Perry? That doesn’t add up. Posts # 30 has a far more logical theory.”
We don’t keep electing him because we love him. We keep electing him because nobody better is stepping up. In our last election we had kay bailey hutchison and medina, a 9-11 truther nut.
Not much of a choice.
Most Texans’ attitudes toward Perry is, ‘meh.’
The numbers IMO reflect people’s growing awareness that the GOP is as much the Problem as the Dems. They see Perry, Rightfully so as part of that ‘old way’ of doing politics.
Look at the 10 landslide. That was not about GOP over Dems. It was ‘new blood’ and Conservatism over all of it.
Then with Perry specifically, his fans can discount the ‘heartless’ comment all they want. It was an insult to millions and spoke DIRECTLY to the mindset he holds. As did his disproven Gore lie and his Guardasil BS. In short, Perry thinks he knows ‘better’ and the people ain’t buyin’ what he’s sellin’.
So PO’d about that mentality are they that they are willing to go with the ‘Cain’ they don’t know, than the ‘Perry’ they do.
