I think it's pretty obvious that the politically powerful of both parties are chomping at the bit, so to speak, to amnesty illegal aliens. Like you wrote, I sympathize with the hard cases, like children brought here so young they know nothing else. I think a lot of voters would like to do something for the hard cases, but wealthy and powerful interests want to make sure we don't get the chance.

I believe they are holding the hard immigration cases as ransom for a much greater amnesty. If they can't get that, they prefer the status quo.

Democrats and Republicans oppose us. They try to tell us amnesty isn't really amnesty, as though we're too stupid to figure out what to call it when one is forgiven some or all of the mandated penalty for an illegal act. That is, of course, an amnesty, and it peeves me no end to hear fellow Republicans, our own team, blatantly lie about it rather than fess up to what they know is politically unpopular with their own constituents.
