eCat Domains: "No Comment" Tuesday, October 4, 2011

ecat.com and e-cat.com

A few weeks ago the domain e-cat.com was changed to point to the Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers website - more specifically, the part of their business that invests in new Green Technologies. Just 48 hours ago the similarly named ecat.com domain also went live with a teasing video about steam. A few days ago (and not knowing for sure) we dared to speculate that Rossi's US partner is in fact Kleiner Perkins (see this report). I emailed KPCBs Greentech Dept and was not the least bit surprised to find that my email was ignored. I also made efforts to correspond through their Facebook Page - again, there seemed to be no-one at home over at Kleiner Perkins - very strange I thought.

Yesterday I wrote and asked Andrea Rossi if he or his group had any connection with either the e-cat.com or ecat.com domains in order that the speculation ends.

My comment appeared to be "awaiting moderation" when I checked yesterday. Today however, a stack of new comments appeared and mine was not one of them.

So what happened to it? There is an outside chance that it went into the spam folder on his blog, but my guess is that Rossi's group / partner firm owns at least one or maybe both of the domains and perhaps understandably, they do not want to give anything away right now.

Perhaps the partner firm is indeed KPCB? If it turns out that it is not KPCB then it is at least rumored to be a company of quite some standing anyway. We should know by the end of October if not sooner.

To be candid, I doubt that Kleiner Perkins is backing Rossi, but like the Chinese proverb/curse: "May you live in interesting times" is true of these times where politics/scientism makes strange bedfellows.

Italian Science Magazine Focus Announces Upcoming Presence at E-Cat Test, Creates Forum for Reader Questions

Focus, the Italian science magazine has been invited to be present at the October 6th test of an E-Cat module that will be carried out by Andrea Rossi. The magazine posted the following announcement today:
Thursday, October 6 at Bologna began testing a new E-Cat: Focus.it will be present to document the event with photos, videos and interviews. The test will be conducted by Rossi on one of the local EFA (the family business) in the presence of “nuclear physics” – according to Rossi’s own statements. Wanting to go into the field of hypotheses we can say that will probably present Mauro Villa, University of Bologna (but the test is not attributable to the university) and in all probability there will be no physical Brian Josephson, whose presence seemed to some a few days ago. The test will begin at midday, and the program should continue until late at night. According to Rossi said, will be very similar to the last test performed with the Swedish NyTeknik except for the fact that the thermal measurements will be taken on a secondary circuit where the water will not be vaporized, to allow you to “read” better efficiency of the system. In addition to Focus.it will be present to document the event for Matts Lewan NyTeknik and Daniel Passerini . Send questions to ask the same day, during interviews with Rossi and the present, you can use the forum for test of October 6 or e-mail focusfusione@gmail.com .

From the Vortex-L mailing list Re: [Vo]:Rossi's semptember test with NASA&investors Jed Rothwell Tue, 04 Oct 2011 12:36:04 -0700 Daniel Rocha wrote: Rossi has several devices at his disposal; NASA has lots of rockets too, but on a give day, only one is ready to launch. Or not ready as it often turns out. Getting one to work is a struggle. Every cold fusion experiment I know of is the same way. This does not mean that mass produced cold fusion reactors are likely to be unreliable. Cold fusion cells are hand-made, one-of-a-kind prototypes that no one fully understands. They resemble Edison's first light bulbs, or the early prototype automobiles and computers. Those things constantly malfunctioned. This is how real experimental machines are in real life. If you reject Rossi's claims, or Steorn's for that matter, because the machines are highly unreliable, you would have rejected every other nascent technology. - Jed Rothwell

According to other news there will also be some other physics professors of university Bologna. NyTeknik got a priority right for publication, so the first news should be there at friday or later.

A little redirect will accomplish that. KBCP doesn't even have to know about it.

I'm not surprised either.

Just 48 hours ago the similarly named ecat.com domain also went live with a teasing video about steam.

I watched somebody eat some steamed broccoli the other day, which is just as relevant.

Well, wouldn't a little email to the KPCB's webmaster, customer relations department, or marketing department clear that up?

I'm interested to see what will happen at the end of October. Certainly, "unforeseen complications" can be used to delay the demonstration, or market roll-out, or whatever is supposed to happen in October, but at some point, even the most devoted advocates are going to start asking questions.

So, tomorrow is “E-Day”? Or, seeing that it’s 8+ hours in Italy from CDST it will be tonight. I wonder if there will be live feed from the tests?................

Kevmo, although Rossi and Focardi seemed to be lacking in support from the Strong Nuclear Force type of trained researchers, I think the fellow next door is instructive in that regard.

When Blue Laser research ended up with his team failing and somebody else's team winning he moved on to some other activity ~ but there wasn't enough money in it so he turned to his new love ~ Day Trading.

I understand he is doing fair as a day trader, but he's still got his hand into physics somewhere ~ but I have no idea where.

All of his associates from the now disbanded "blue laser" research team are working someplace, but for the most part they found it necessary to move on right at the time all the government money dried up.

You have to assume they have jobs.

Then there are the Russians ~

These guys are still highly intelligent, highly educated, physicists. I'm sure more than a handful of them have jumped into LENR projects without any of us realizing it.

Your emails may well have been set aside for later response ~ REAL LATER!!!

At some point, Rossi said there would be video.

Maybe it will be here at this new website?

Here's the real video

It's a steam blow from a coal fired generator.

There's a 24 hour hold on any news except for comments (I've read them all) to meet a commitment to a magazine in Europa.

The comments are of two kinds ~ folks who knew a lot about LENR were "positive" and referred to previously un-mentioned tests. Folks who weren't knowledgeable wanted to know why there was no dry steam at 440 degrees C.

Hmm. Same old same old.

I think the world changed here. This was a test of ONE module of the 52 in a 1 MW device. It appears to have generated 4.5 kw/h ~ but the device is otherwise rated at 27 kw/h. Now that's not bad, but with some confusion over notes no one knows if those computations are correct.

I had to translate a lot of it from Italian to English on Google.com. The quality is surprisingly good. Google.com now allows hypertext notation that allows you to look at ALTERNATIVE translations of short phrases.

The last reference was to a further test on Friday, and then Saturday. I didn't catch what Saturday is about ~ but Rossi had a larger crowd show up than he'd imagined, so maybe more people are coming.

Other stuff popping up today that you saw kept referring to NASA being involved in OTHER STUFF. This leads me to believe that if this technology is proven maybe Navy Department is preparing to retrofit ships ~ at Pascagula Mississippi and Savannah and Norfolk ~ from a central supply point where they can send in their technicians (to wit, wherever that Florida factory is).

There's some hidden politics and government involvement here that we may not learn about for quite some time.

Whatever it is these tests look remarkably like "demonstrations" rather than "tests" if you can believe the Tweeters and Bloggers with an onsite witness.
