Aren't you tired of hidden fees on your checking account?
Demand an end to the hidden fees and deceptive practices
Checking accounts are the most widely used financial services with 9 out of 10 Americans having one. Unfortunately, the terms and conditions on those accounts are so complicated that most people never read them, and as a result, they're constantly dinged by hidden fees and unfair practices.
Congress created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to make consumer financial services, like checking accounts, credit cards, and mortgages, safe from unfair or deceptive practices.
They have the power to simplify disclosures by requiring banks to provide terms, conditions and fees associated with checking accounts in an easy-to-understand format.
Better disclosure by banks can help people avoid hidden fees. Act now to urge the CFPB to make your checking account safer.
Thanks for taking action!

I call that the idiot tax.
Do I really need to close my tag?
Every financial institution provides a fee schedule to new customers. It’s the customer’s responsibility to read and understand this document.
That said, staying away from Big Banks® is probably a good idea, generally speaking. Big Banks® are especially adept at using computers to contort transactions in ways that maximize fee income to them, plus they really don’t give a damn about their customers (except for those with actual money).
My advice: jump to a credit union (most are decent) or a community bank.
We just got our phone bill (land line). The hidden fees and taxes are more than 50% of the bill.
How about demanding an end to hidden fees and regulations in government?
Demand an end to government micromanagement of economic liberties and overall usurpation of freedom.
OR you could read the terms...
The fees are only hidden if you never look at your bank statements. It’s pretty hard to give a customer a statement showing how much money went into the account, and how much went out, without revealing payment of fees.
Last time I was asked to pay a fee the bank tried to charge me for a cashier’s check when I withdrew $25,000 from my bank account which had $50,000 in it. I asked them if the fee was the same for taking out the whole $50K, they said yes. I told them if they didn’t waive the fee, that is what I would do. They waived the fee.
Of whom do we make that demand?
There are no hidden fees. A hidden fee would be one a person could never know about.
I can honestly say I haven’t paid a checking fee for probably 15 years now.
You need to watch your statement. Keep a few dollars in it (in my case it is $1,000) and challenge any fee that shows up. OVer this 15 years I would guess I have had maybe $100 reversed when I challenged fees for this or that charged to my account.
“I can honestly say I havent paid a checking fee for probably 15 years now.”
In the past 15 years I got dinged 3 times. All three were
from changes in policy that I didn’t notice, hidden in
the small print of some of the junk mail they send out. In
all cases I called customer service and got my money back.
I’ve used the ATM maybe 3 times in the past 5 years. By
everything with a credit card and pay it off at the end of
the month. Never carry over a balance and transfer your
points to cash.
I don’t pay fees. Old age discounts are a strange thing indeed.
I’m sure you love the Dodd-Frank + Durbin bill.
Interesting. My bank sends me me 4-page insert at least once a year detailing the various fees on different types of accounts.
I have 3 accounts and am not charged one single penny in fees on any of them. Of course, being a cheap bastige, I have a large balance in each of them.
However, I don’t have any video games or an I-phone or whatever is the new fad....
