Herman Cain pushed back Monday against criticism that he had unfairly called opponent Rick Perry "insensitive" when asked about a rock carrying a racial epithet at a ranch leased by the Texas governor.
All I said was the mere fact that that word was there was insensitive. Cain said outside Trump Tower in Manhattan, according to the National Review. Thats not playing the race card. I am not attacking Gov. Perry. Some people in the media want to attack him. Im done with that issue!
[snip]
Cain seemed eager to put the issue behind himself Monday, asking reporters to instead ask about "what's important to the American people" rather than "beat this distraction to death about a word that appeared on a rock."
I really dont care about that word, Cain said. They painted over it. End of story! I accept Gov. Perrys response on that.

Now the “media” has to find another manufactured gaffe. Oh, no.
You’ve got to love Cain’s control of the MSM sub-species.
“They painted over it. End of story! I accept Gov. Perrys response on that.
Smart move on damage control for Cain. Do it right away and be done with it. To be honest, I wish Perry had acted so quickly after the “don’t have a heart line,” instead of letting it linger for days.
These guys have got to learn who their friends are, and they are not in any arm of the MSM.
He should have said this yesterday.
Herman Cain is a BALD FACED LIAR! Here are Cain's actual quotes:
1. And since Governor Perry has been going there for years to hunt, I think that shows a lack of sensitivity for a long time of not taking that word off of that rock and rename the place. Its just a basic case of insensitivity.
2. For him to leave it there as long as he did before I hear that they finally painted over it is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country, Cain said.
Well done, Cain.
Move on. Nothing to see here.
Time to talk about what is important to the American people.
Perry should have addressed this a long time ago.
Learn from it, Herman. The media is nevernevernever on your side, even when you think they’re helping you score a point against an opponent.
Oh just stop it. You really have lost your mind. If you think you’re helping Cain, you are deluded.
This is a made up bogus story, and I’m ashamed of some Freepers for playing into it just because they don’t like Perry. I’m not a Perry supporter but I hope I never get like you.
I think you are too sensitive over Cain’s “insensitive” remark about Perry’s insensitivity with the insensitive word :-)
Addressed what, some stupid made up story. You guys have truly gone over to the dark side.
**I really dont care about that word, Cain said. They painted over it. End of story!**
This should have been his statement the first time around. Hopefully he has learned not to jump into a MSM trap next time. An apology would have been nice but I can appreciate his statement.
Falling prey to the media does not shake my support for Cain, no more than when Palin fell for Katie Courics trap. If it did, then all the candidates better cancel all media interviews from here on in, because their entrapment question awaits.
But you know this is going to be brought up in the next debate, and Cain and Perry better be waiting for it, and smartly with their answer make this a non issue, or better, turn it back on on the media, exposing them for the race baiters they are.
Cain isn’t telling the truth about what he said, you are correct.
Someone needs to sit him down and show him the replay of his words, then hand him the transcript to read.
He most certainly did include Perry in his racial insensitivity theme.
He addressed it and he accepts Perry’s explanation. It is time to move on. Seriously.
