You know what Herman Cain would probably say?

Fine, make it 9-18-0.

An additional tax suggested by a guy who used to work for the Fed? Please!

Wake up America!

Herman Cain has addressed this concern. With the entire convoluted and monstrous tax code eliminated, it will be a lot more difficult for politicians to insert “sneaker” taxes into legislation. A simplified tax code will allow the people to easily notice “sneaker” tax legislation and voice protest before it gets to a vote.

Until he gets rid of the sales tax idea, this is a terrible plan for America to accept!

The only way to address this is an amendment to the US Constitution ending the income tax. Time and tax creep, NN. They are both facts of life.

Just putting the idea out there of a national sales tax is completely nuts. Shut the hell up Herman. Don’t give them ideas.

Oh I get it, you're against voluntary taxation. Check - got it.

Actually...

All powers not specifically given to the US government are reserved to the states or to the people.

....

I don’t know if I like the plan, it could stink. I also know it doesn’t have a chance to become law.

The sales tax idea is going nowhere as long as you have to pay FICA and Medicare Taxes.

Please--get your facts straight. Cain was a Class C board director. Learn what that means.

The 9-9-9 would be used in lieu of the current tax structure.

I'm against compulsory tax on top of compulsory tax on top of a brand spanking NEW compulsory tax.

Call me after the amendment to forever end the income tax is a part of the US Constitution.

Until then this is just one more tax scheme by a guy who worked for the Fed.

Liberals will love this idea and come along for the ride.....then it can be switched to a flat tax.

Besides, it is the PEOPLE’s job to police their representatives......the founders tried to put obstacles in place to run-away gov’t and it did not work.

Your idea would fail just the same.

Sorry this argument is utter nonsense.

What is to prevent the current tax rate from being hiked 20-30-70%?

The notion that it will be easier to hike a sales tax is nonsense. EVERYONE pays the sales tax. It is much easier to hike the income tax by selling it as a “Tax hike on the rich” then it will be to raise a sales tax.

So those of you trying to demonized 9-9-9 go back to the drawing board for a new attack line. This dog won't hunt.

And one less tax. No more Social Security tax from what he says! Herman asked economists to find out what percentage tax in those 3 areas (sales, income and corporate tax) would give the feds the same amount as they currently collect - answer 9-9-9. No deductions, all businesses, all people treated the exact same way! No more using the tax code to encourage or discourage behavior (social engineering) or using it as a weapon (are you sure the IRS couldn’t take you to court over some part of the code you aren’t even aware of?)In case you didn’t know, Mr. Cain has a degree in MATHMATICS and another in COMPUTER SCIENCE!!He wrote software for the Navy!!!!
