I’m with xzins:
Im in favor of the repeal of the income tax amendment, and the shrinking of government to its constitional role of defense, judiciary, and commerce.
We can do all of that with tariffs.
It won’t happen easily but it will have to happen. Supplying a junkie with just a reduced dose of heroin does not work. What with the various collapses which are inevitable it will happen willy nilly, IMO. (Interesting source of the phrase “willy nilly” - originally “will he, nill he”.)
And it’s not going to be done. The public must be educated on the Fair Tax in order to understand it and back it. We have to vote in a Tea Party congress and squash the Old Guard in both parties that have fed this monstrosity of a tax code. It’s going to take a monumental effort to get it all passed. (A constitutional amendment isn’t easy... and we don’t want it to be.)
In the meantime, we must do something to set get this economy off the ground. The first part of Cain’s plan could be set in motion within a year and we could see these rusty gears finally starting to turn again. Another year or two to get the public behind him and then we can have our amendment.
Heck, I’d bet dollars to donuts that we’d see an improvement the day after Cain was elected just in anticipation of his positive, productive ideas.
Sorry, missed the link at the site.
Simple exercise:
1. Pull out last year’s 1040. Find the gross income box. Write down number.
2. Find tax paid number. Write that down.
3. Find fica and med paid. Write those down.
4. Add all together for total A.
Now
1. Take gross income and multiply by 9%. Write it down.
2. Consider half your income as having been spent on purchases. Multiply by 9%. Write it down.
3. Add those together for Total B.
Now.
1. Compare.
2. Which is larger?
You're getting awfully close to the 49.5% of people who don't pay any income taxes currently. Would be a crying shame if they had to contribute like the rest of us.
Disagree completely with having 2 taxes at once for politicians to keep forever.
Implement any new system with a constitutional amendment that simultaneously institutes a national sales tax and REPEALS the income tax.
see post #144
“Its 666 upside down.”
I’m glad you are arguing logically against the 999 plan.
Don’t worry about it. I misunderstood anyway and though the link didn’t work.
:)
Of course congress will approve new taxes.
And my decades of experience says they’ll fight like hell before they give any of them up.
And then Cain will be gone, and we’ll have 2 taxes instead of one.
One amendment that simultaneously (1) repeals the income tax and (2) institutes a national sales tax is the only sane way to go.
Who would surprise me that supports this fair tax? A list of conservatives who do.
You haven’t figured out yet what a Class C Board Director of the Federal Reserve is yet, have you?
According to the fair tax calculator my husband I and will save over $7000 in taxes vs what we pay now. (And that doesn’t count the mark-up of what we’re paying with the 35% corporate tax rate rolled into every level of production of every product that we buy.)
Can you say...
... retirement savings? :)
And how will we save?
Investing in American businesses!
Jobs. Innovation. Opportunity.
As long as you’re in your mom’s basement you might as well check the plan for yourself: http://www.hermancain.com/999plan
If you are able to read, you will notice that the intention of 9-9-9 is to move away from income taxes altogether and implement the Fair Tax.
Good luck.
999 is the opposite of 666.
It was such a busy home page that I didn’t see the line of links. Going blind sitting at this computer. Thank you for giving it. Much to look over.
Awesome.
I’m starting to suspect that some people here don’t pay taxes and don’t want the current system to go away. They might have to contribute something.
(And their heads are buried too deep in the sand to understand that they’re paying a LOT more in taxes than they realize with the inflated corporate tax burden hidden in every purchase that they make.)
I posted Cain’s title. Does anything else matter? If it’s important just say what it is. Other than that I’m running between frying dinner and posting on FR. Give a guy a break. :>)
You might notice my tagline.
