Arizona Sheriff Fights Drug Cartels, but Whose Side is Obama On?
Townhall ^ | Sept. 26, 2011 | Katie Pavlich

Earlier today, I had the privilege of sitting down with National Sheriff of the Year Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu to discuss his reaction to Operation Fast and Furious and his ongoing fight against ruthless drug cartels. After our conversation, it became clear the Obama Administration is fighting him with lawsuits and by arming the very cartels he and his deputies are trying to combat in the Arizona desert.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu is fighting what he describes as the most ruthless criminals in North America, on American soil in Southern Arizona. In his county, cartels use look-out posts, or “spotters,” to detect and move around law enforcement, and shootouts with cartels members are a normal occurrence.

“We still have these look-out posts, intelligence gathering locations where they sit on top of a mountain or in a cave. At least 100 of them just in one smuggling route throughout our county and we have multiple routes,” Babeu said. “How have we arrived to this point where this has become okay from the federal government’s perspective?”

It is quite the coincidence that at least half of the murders in Mexico came at the same time Operation Fast and Furious was being implemented and carried out.

“It’s not going to end, there are at least 1500 guns out there and we have no clue where they are,” Babeu said.

I believe the destabilization of our southern border is deliberate. There also seems to be an recent additional element introduced into the mix, namely an incrfease in oppressive tactics by the cartels. Extortion, brutalization of the border town populations indicates that something in the cartels has changed. Their agenda is no longer just about selling drugs. Smells like there might be an islamic influence reminiscent of initmidation tactics employed Al Qaeda.

More Fast and Furious hearings could come as early as next month

http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/local_news/investigations/more-fast-and-furious-hearings-could-come-as-early-as-next-month

More Congressional hearings in the Fast and Furious case could come as early as next month, meanwhile hearings could be starting up right here in Arizona.

Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and committee member, Rep. Paul Gosar, were in Phoenix over the weekend, talking to the ABC15 Investigators about the future of the controversial case, which involves the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

More hearings will come, they said. The next people called to testify will likely do so in front of both the House Judiciary Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform committee, jointly.

“We want (the House Judiciary Committee) who has direct oversight over the Attorney General and of (the Department of Justice) to take a more active role, and we believe they will,” Issa said. Eventually, Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer will be called to testify, he said.

“This is the kind of thing that threatens the fabric of how America trusts law enforcement,” he said. “So, [the investigation] goes on until we get a real understanding that this can never happen again.”

Issa said the people involved in the Fast and Furious case must be either “punished legally or are at least dismissed.” He called the recent resignations and transfers of a handful of leaders within the Department of Justice a “good start.”

Gosar and Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu are participating in a Tucson Tea Party town hall meeting about the Fast and Furious case at Canyon del Oro High School from 6pm to 8pm Monday night.

Issa: “So, [the investigation] goes on until we get a real understanding that this can never happen again.”

Is that what we are aiming for?

Issa:”He called the recent resignations and transfers of a handful of leaders within the Department of Justice a “good start.””

Hearing this from Issa is not reassuring.

Grassley is on Greta right now. He says what is going on is “sinister.” I don’t think it’s going to be over so easy.

Grassley is gilding the turd. What is going on now, with the US government plan hatched and covered up by Obama, Clinton, Holder and Napolitano, using taxpayer funds to subvert the second amendment R2KBA via straw purchasers for cartel criminals buying and transporting arms from licensed vendors in America to illegal immigrants from Mexico, to be used in drug smuggling and criminal operations inside Mexico and in the US, is treasonous, deadly, and a high crime against the US nation and its citizens, and is a brazen unauthorized act of open warfare using criminal proxies against Mexico.

“Sinister” is hardly the apt description for such heinous abuse of power. All involved should be locked up in prison and tried for treason and sedition.

Did I miss Grassley already? I set TIVO to tape Greta’s repeat.

See post #7. I have seen this before from Issa. He is a national treasure...but then I see him waffle. You’re going to tell me, “Hold off and wait; he is building a case.”

“After our conversation, it became clear the Obama Administration is fighting him with lawsuits and by arming the very cartels he and his deputies are trying to combat in the Arizona desert.”

When is the word “treason” or “subversive” going to be mentioned?

Anybody beginning to see a pattern?

Most articles give a ludicrous benefit of the doubt by saying “sting gone wrong,” “lost control of the weapons.”
What evidence do we have that they ever had any intentional control over the tracking of these weapons in the first place?

BTW-— Drudge pulled his F & F headline in favor of ObamaCare going to SCOTUS, but rather than relegate it to a lower headline status, like he usually does, the headline was pulled -— just like the last time.

And HIGH treason since these same weapons were used against US.

Yes, it looks like Issa starts to waffle, and then ZING! Out comes something even more damning. Issa just isn’t the type to back down. He knows “people” too.
He has escalated this case brilliantly.

It seems, after seing Drudge do this yet again, that he is really scared of something. I am not kidding. This isn’t like him to back off a major story like this.

True; however, I am beginning to question what his objective is. He above anyone knows these are high crimes and that top officials need to go to jail. I hope he will not settle for less.

No, it isn't---not at all.

The only thought I have left, other than the one you suggest, is that he has lessers minding the store.

Re: Your thought---I am thinking of possible scenarios, but he has covered it twice now within a few weeks.

My first thought as well.

Weren't these people "reassigned" to keep them from testifying and to limit the publicity about what they know?
