Only 4 things can be highlighted as topic designations for a thread post. I found it a hard choice because business/economy, education, government, health/medicine, history, military, politics, religion, science and society all should be included.
It is being reported by environmentalists -- believers in a socialist green religion -- that their judgment and knowledge is being resisted by unscientific, religious deniers hell-bent on blocking their path. So the deniers need to be identified for the good of humankind. This is dangerous. This morning I posted an article that explores with alarm, how Global Warming Consensus is denied by conservatives that their resistance is an ever growing problem stemming from the religious right in America. The American Allergy to Global Warming: Why?
I posted it because Gov. Rick Perry was mentioned at the top of the article. And there is good reason why. Socialists around the world know that Rick Perry has been fighting them on the legal front, the education front, and the environmental front for years. Due to his past, he knows why and where they are determined to lead us. Why would Rick Perry feel so strongly about these issues and their connection to states' rights and free market capitalism? Why does the Left recognize the danger of a Rick Perry controlling the Bully Pulpit of the White House, his veto, his appointments?
Rick Perry grew up on a farm (I know he keeps telling us this but I think it is done for a reason). His mother sewed his clothes. They worked and went to church. Rick Perry was a Boy Scout, earning Eagle Scout rank (so has his son). Rick Perry was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He went to Texas A&M and was a member of the Corps. Rick Perry joined the Air Force, serving 5 years. He flew C-130s around the world before returning to West Texas and the family farm. He courted his future wife, taught Sunday school and worked the land with his father. And in time he went into state politics.
Rick Perry is a self made man. He was called one of the Pit-bulls in the Texas legislature because he was a Democrat member who sat in the lower pit of the House Appropriations Committee and bitterly fought spending increases. He is naturally a conservative. In 1989 he joined the Republican Party that had begun taking root in Texas as the Democratic Party ideology began moving left. Perry ran for the Agriculture Commission seat against leftist Jim Hightower and won. In 1998 Rick Perry ran for Lt. Gov. and won (he was the first Republican Lt. Gov. elected since Reconstruction).
When George W. Bush became president in 2000, Rick Perry became the governor of Texas. He has been reelected twice (the last time beating out Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a candidate supported by the Bush family and Karl Rove in a primary challenge). When Gov. Rick Perry was elected in 2010 for his 3rd term, he was joined by a Republican super majority in the Texas legislature. Major legislation was passed and signed by Gov. Perry, including (after a 6 year struggle) Photo Voter ID and tighter controls over how money is spent. Perry's history of being attacked by the mainstream media is well known and his election was won without one endorsement by a mainstream media outlet.
Rick Perry has served twice as Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. The country has seen a rise in the number of conservative governors and state legislatures in recent elections. Rick Perry broke fundraising records for the RGA. And now Rick Perry is a candidate in the GOP Primary for President of the United States. He wants to lower taxes, return states' rights, repeal Obama care, and remove the regulations and laws that are strangling our economy, and get people back to work.
Currently, the Left is battling Gov. Rick Perrys stand on Big Education (unions) and EPA Energy and Environment dictates. Trial lawyers have made it known they plan to block any more power going to Rick Perry, as he has won so many victories against them as the Gov. of Texas. The Left knows Rick Perry has his own religious beliefs and does not adhere to their pseudo green religion. They know he understands the land, that he was brought up in a religious home and has worked for everything he has. The Left knows he attended a school that didnt teach him to hate his country but rather instilled love of country. They know he served in the military and still encourages boys to become Boy Scouts. The Left can not put the lie to the fact that Texas' economy is running rings around Obama's disastrous economic policies. The Left knows that when Rick Perry shows compassion has a heart it isnt because he wants to make you dependent on him but rather to set you free.
If the Left can demonize Gov. Perry, a man who believes in standing with our allies, making government as inconsequential as possible in our lives and who holds firmly to his belief in American exceptionalism if they can successfully define him as a rightwing religious dunce, while simultaneously encouraging people in the GOP Primary to lambast him as someone who isnt conservative, then the Left will have won the ideological battle -- their war against capitalism will be complete and they will permanently Rule America.
I’m witcha! The Gardasil matter and the state tuition thang have been known to us for months, so why now? Haven’t you people been paying attention? Or, as I suspect, someone else has to point things out to you, to make them “important”, that someone else are the Lefties in the media and the half-witted Bachmann woman?
I’m not Perrybot, just disgusted by the ease with which so-called conservatives are letting themselves be manipulated.
question...
Is Perry more conservative than?
HW Bush?
W Bush?
Clinton?
Obama?
if you answer yes to all those, then Perry would be the most conservative president since Reagan.
And if you don't answer yes, you have no idea what your talking about.
agreed,
ricardo Perry, Mitt Perry, what ever his name is we can all be sure it was not the ;left which destroyed him infact the lefty media gave him a lot of time.
He destroyed himself and showed at just how out of touch he is .
I won't. They post so quickly that it's easy to see that they don't even read what is posted. I know they're just here to disrupt. But they serve a purpose (besides being useful idiots) they keep bumping the thread.
Perry would be smart to concede that his views regarding illegal aliens is simply not transferrable on a national scale. What may allegedly work in Texas (probably just for political expediency) will not work nationally.
***********************
I agree, he should make that point. I think he half-heartily tried, he needs to clarify.
In-state tuition is a state matter and the students of illegals have paid state taxes through sales tax, property taxes etc. for at least three years. (I don’t like it but it was legislated in...so).
But if he would make clear he doesn’t believe that should be legislated on a national level. Only by the individual states and according to the will of that states constituents.
Controlling the border and enforcing immigration laws is the job that belongs to the feds and if the feds did their job, Texas wouldn’t be legislating laws to deal with children of illegals. (trying to make lemonade out of lemons) It would be a moot point, if the feds were doing their job.
Excellent essay. I have no problem with strong disagreement here, but conservatives should never, ever join hands with the MSM and Democrats against a Republican they don’t like. Never.
Yes. I agree.
The left did not destroy R Perry. He did himself in by being himself. And I live in TX and am not for Ron Paul or Mitt.
Thank you.
You get it.
So, if I disagree with a behavior of a candidate I'm a "hater?" Hello Mr Al Sharpton, I'm surprised to find your "race baiting style" behavior on FR.
Seriously, I've stated before that I'm willing to vote for Perry, if he's the GOP candidate. However, he's been working overtime on changing my mind!
I agree - I was somewhat neutral at first and then got sort of pro-Perry for a short while - but that debate was horrible. And even worse are some of the things he has done. Apparently his great jobs numbers are largely the result of illegal aliens providing cheap labor. So maybe the subsidized college tuition is one of the carrots for the illegals.
One thing I really do like is the tort reform in Texas. We need that in all states.
These attempts to manipulate me into supporting him just piss me off. You would think the geniuses who do it would be smart enough to recognize that it doesn’t help.
Just check on the homepages sweetie, I’m not your slave.
Rick Perry would be best served by publicly backing off his illegal alien coddling.
And you would be best served, by acquiring a hobby.
Posting Perry propaganda is no way to go through life, Ma’am.
I never said that.
In fact this is what I said about that.
No you aren’t my slave, just running your mouth with nothing to back it up.
How did the left ruin Perry?
Did MoveOn secretly advise him to call 95% of Republicans “heartless?”
Dumb post.
I know what you mean. People all over the Cain win. Then in a few short hours, SNL was ridiculing him and making him look ignorant and jingoisdtic.
I am ashamed of the supposed conservatives, they have taken up the tactics of the moveon.orgs and other Soros funded propaganda machines.
I can believe that some of us have to constantly give “conservs” a geography lesson about the Texas Border. there is absolutely NO criticism of the Obama Administration re border security.
The BIG issue is whether Mx kids get tuition after graduating from a Texas School.
(Determining Residency
When students apply for admission, the university uses information they provide on their ApplyTexas applications to make an initial determination about residency. If the submitted information indicates that the student isnt a U.S. citizen or permanent resident but that he or she may qualify for residency based on Texas high school graduation, the student will be prompted by the ApplyTexas application to download and submit the Residency Affidavit.”
Frankly in an election where getting the current resident out is critical to the survival of the Nation. I find this juvenile back and forth disturbing.
The Dummies and their fellow travelers are sitting back laughing watching the msm and the candidates destroy each other.
And FOX is the LEAD. all Fox wants is a day of stories, which they got.
When Zero wins his 4 more years I hope all the idiots will enjoy their new ruler, especially on the UE line.
Are any of those people you listed Republican candidates currently running for president?
It’s 2011.
I’m looking at the existing field and Perry ain’t it... by a long shot.
