A No Confidence Vote in Orlando SEP 24, 2011 BY WILLIAM KRISTOL
Having watched the debate Thursday night, and having heard the candidates speak and having mingled with them over the subsequent couple of days, 70 percent of the activists attending the Florida Republican gathering this weekend cast a vote of no confidence in the two GOP frontrunners.
So, with all the usual caveats about not over-interpreting straw polls, Id suggest:
1. There is resistance to both Rick Perry (15 percent) and Mitt Romney (14 percent). Perrys poor debate performance hurt himbut it doesnt seem to have redounded to Mitt Romneys benefit. Perhaps neither Perry nor Romney will end up as the nominee. After all, the two GOP frontrunners in national polls in late September 2007 were Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. The Democratic frontrunners in a Gallup poll on September 24, 2003 were Wesley Clark and Howard Dean.
2. Herman Cain (37 percent) will obviously get a new, more serious look. Still, with all due respect to Cain, to some degree voting for him is voting for none of the above.

Kristol is an embarrassing moron and just part of that GOP elite that is trying to shove a lackey like Romney down our throats.
Ain’t ... gonna ... happen, Bill. Did you miss our power in 2010, Bill?
Palin won’t and should not stay out. However a Palin/Cain ticket looks good.
“LOL, this is it folks, the establishment has just thrown Romney under the bus!”
Methinks you’re right. bk is one of the leading shills for the establishment gop. Wonder if karl rove has weighed in yet (pardon the pun)?
It’s time Sarah. Lets roll!
Okay my fellow conservative patriots..looks like we are gonna have to fight OUR side first. Bring it on! !!!
Christie has to lose about 100 pounds before he thinks about running for POTUS.
Christie has to run 10 miles a day for months before he thinks of running for POTUS.
This just slapped those beltways boys in the face...mittens can win all the debates and NO ONE LIKES OR TRUST HIM...Get it you GOP elitist...
Cain/Palin or Palin/Cain......the left and the RINO establishment are going to have soiled underwear, but we must have real America-Loving Conservatives this time or else we will answer negatively Abe’s question as to whether “any nation so concieved can long endure”.....
Guess I need to change my tagline to add Kristol. I must admit it’s long overdue.
I just emailed the SOB. wkristol@weeklystandard.com
Okay my email failed. Anyone know his email address?
Surprise, surprise. Kristol has Beltway Disease. *yawn*
If he has been, dammed if I can think of it.....
Clearly, Cain is now on top due to the process of elimination. Bachmann flamed out fast, and now Perry has too. Romney plods along, looming in the background as the guy no one wants but who could win by default.
And Kristol rightly points out that this win is an opportunity for Cain, who will now get a serious look.
Cain is an honest, no-nonsense man. He’s our Black Ronald Reagan.
Bill is correct.
Its called “projection” Bill...and usually its a liberal defense mechanism against a reality that conflicts with the utopian idealism paid for at an Ivy League school.
In this case the remote prospect of a black conservative on the GOP ticket is making the RinoCracy vomit on their shoes.
Minus the proven ability to win elections and govern effectively.
