Anyone who has lived in Alaska has their own Alalska, this was ours for seven years about four decades ago. We would not trade that experience, not much by some people's standards, but we did it our way.

Enjoyed the pictures and descriptions.

Reminded me of my one years tour at Campion Air Force Station (AFS) just outside Galena, Alaska.

The AFS was at one end of a 9 mile road, and Galena was at the other. To get to the AFS, you had to fly into Galena.

Ah, the memories of younger days, LOL.

Wonderful photos and words!

I met a guy in Tok, Alaska. Sold his house in Oregon, canned all the meat and food in his house and went up to Alaska with his wife and two kids and a pickup truck.

Spent the first winter in a tent with his family! Been there 20+ years now. Definitly takes a special breed of folks.
