Results of Florida Freeper Straw poll: Herman Cain wins with 44% of the vote..
one man's opinion....

Posted on 09/24/2011 5:54:54 AM PDT by ken5050

Today is the Florida 5 Presidency Straw poll. Gov Scott has said that he believes that the winner of the poll will go on to win the GOP nomination and to defeat Obama next year.

We thought it would be interesting to conduct our own straw poll of Florida freepers, to see who they liked, and to then compare it to the results today, and see what we might learn, if anything. Some of it is surprising.

I am going to vote for Cain regardless. He won’t win. Too many “republicans” will vote for Romney/Perry because that”s the way it is framed. I can get all my “R” friends to vote for him, but it isn’t enough. He needs major media spots. If I can help, I will. Just tell me how.

This is really amazing....when seekthetruth and I decided to do this, we thought it would be sort of interesting to see what FL freepers thought. When I saw the results, Cain winning big.. I was, frankly, surprised..but it shows that Florida Freepers have the real pulse of the conservative base....they picked Cain...as did the delegates to the straw poll, and Freepers did it BEFORE Cain made his big speech to the delegates..

Also, Freepers had the actual % pretty close..given that we had such a small sample..

Thanks to all...

A little more analysis..again given the very small Freeper pol size..it’s pretty consistent with the BIG Florida poll..it shows the weakness of BOTH Romney and Perry, and that Bachmann is pretty much over..

Ken, Thanks for bringing my attention to this interesting piece. Got it to post. Scroll down to “On The Cain Train” for very interesting comments from some delegates from the Presidency-5.

Also, Adam Hasner got the plurality of votes the FL Senate straw poll.

One might say Adam Hasner got the “plurality of votes” in the CPAC-FL Senate candidate straw poll, but the actual results were as follows:

Hasner——— 34%
McCalister—— 30%
Lemieux-—— 24%
Millwe——— 12%

Shows Adam Hasner and Mike McCalister rather close.

I hope you are not mixing up the FL Freeper poll with the Presidency=5 poll. Freeper Ken5050 received votes in our Florida Freeper poll for Palin, and he tallied them. However we expected the FL Freepers to submit votes only for the candidates who are ACTUALLY in the race. But that was my fault, as I did not state in the directions that votes be made for those IN the race and NO Write-ins.

Our FL Freeper poll was just something Freeper Ken5050 and I decided to do, just to see who FL Freepers might select as favorite. Seems it did turn out close to the actual Presidency 5 poll with votes from registered Republicans from across the whole state of Florida. :)

WOW! I’d be willing to vote for Cain, and I’m generally pretty doubtful about the pack of potentials. This was an impressive showing. I know Boortz has been touting the guy like crazy, but I didn’t see this coming and even with Boortz’ help, it surprises me.

Hi ALL,
Have you noticed the MSM STILL in denial over Herman Cain's big win here in our Sunshine State? They think they can STILL make Perry and Romney the front-runners!

The next debate will be October 11th. Be prepared for those in control of the debate to attempt to keep Perry and Romney the focus.

Our local Pinellas grassroots group also did a membership poll prior to the announcement of the Presidency-5 results. Herman Cain won that poll too!

As Herman Cain said this morning on FOX, “It's Herman Cain VS More of the same!”

The delegate voters in the Presidency 5 straw poll sent a clear message to the GOP elite and the Media. They WILL NOT choose the Republican nominee! We the people will!

Get to know Herman Cain!

‘...He gave a rousing Reaganesque talk, not a speech, one that made ya proud to be an American....’

Exactly! I, too, was there as a delegate and I witnessed the number of times almost everyone in the room jumped to their feet and applauded...including those wearing Perry signs, Paul signs, etc. Herman Cain spoke, with no pretense and no teleprompters. He spoke from his heart and he spoke in ‘plain English’ with common sense and, very importantly, his patriotism shined through and made all of us feel united and proud to be Americans! It was wonderful!!

Certainly nothing to be sorry about, friend. Just wanted to make sure you knew when I sent out the rules of our “unscientific” Florida Freeper poll, I forgot to ask just for votes on the folks who are actually in the race. I didn't make that clear, so realize why some Freepers wrote in Sarah.

Was really interesting that our Freeper poll taken before the results of the P-5 poll came out so close in % of votes for the top three candidates.

I notice that the media talks about the P-5 Orlando poll as if it was like any other poll. You know, the kind of Straw Poll where kids are allowed to vote, where those in attendance can vote with no voter registration shown or polls where young college kids are bused in by a candidate to vote for him/her. The media does not want the public to know just how much weight the Florida Presidency-5 Straw Poll actually had! In other words, Herman Cain's win was REALLY A BIG WIN!

Here are the rules of the Florida Presidency-5 Straw Poll, for those who do not know:

1. Every delegate had to apply in their local Florida county to be selected as a delegate by this past June,2011.
2. Every delegate had to be a registered Florida Republican since last February, 2011.
3. Every delegate had to pay $175 to be a delegate.
4. The number of delegates selected from each Florida County depended on the number of registered Republicans in that County based on a % basis.
5. The minimum number of delegates from any Florida County was 8 delegates.
6. Every delegate had to sign in at Presidency 5 with their delegate form and photo ID.
7. Delegate voting took place between a designated time period, ie, 4:30-6:00PM Saturday, September 24, 2011.
