Perry is AGAINST illegal immigration.

It is a shame he had such a lousy performance last night, but people keep mixing apple and oranges on this in state tuition thing.

Perrys position is that we are better off educating these kids than ignoring them.
He has repeatedly pointed out that it is the federal Government that is the obstacle to deportation.

Perry’s argument is irrational.

but they are enjoying their righteous indignation so much, you will ruin their fun. And besides, all of them are chomping at the bit to take those desirable mowing and vegetable picking and chamber maid jobs.......

Ignoring them? They're being ignored by their own countries.

It's a rewards program for law breakers. I'd rather offer incentives to US citizens...from other states...before offering it to the law breakers.

IMO Perry made a big mistake on the immigration issue and compounded it by casting inuendos against those who disagreed with him. In the earlier debate, he said some people were against in-state tuition because they didn't like people with different sounding last names. Last night, if you didn't support in-state tuition for illegal aliens, you had no heart.

Perry took a page out of the Bush/Rove/McCain/Graham playbook, which used epithets as bigots, racists, and nativists against those who opposed amnesty. These criticisms just reinforce the Democrat branding of the GOP and alienate minorities who perceive that they are not welcome in the party. Moreover, being branded as a “racist” political party hurts the GOP in recruiting new members, regardless of race or ethnicity. America is not a racist country and no one wants to be associated with a racist organization.

I have no doubt that should Perry win the Rep nomination, Obama will try to brand him as Dubya reincarnate.

He’s wrong. We’re better off deporting them. Revoke citizenship.

I AGREE.

I will get flamed..but if we give out more work visas, more effeciently than 10 years, they don’t become citizens...they become legal guest workers. We can track them, they can go home, they can be taxed ...all while we are securing the border.

Guest worker status is NOT amnesty.
The immigration system is totally broken and ludicrous and sets us up for not only illegals, but also for not getting talent we do need.

He is supportive of arizona’s laws and Texas is spending a fortune to secure their border...uh, fence...duh, can you say rivers? Manning the border, drones and air support is the way to go.And don’t tell me about Israel’s fence ...its not quite the same length of border.

BTW...Reagen ‘s plan of ‘amnesty’ was Waaaay less conservative than Perry’s.

Nope defining illegals as “residents” in state laws opened up the flood-gates for goodies placing US citizens in direct competition with foreigners for taxpayer dollars and limited spots in colleges. They are getting GRANT MONIES ALSO not just instate tuition rates. This is against FED LAW because if you make such laws you must agree to offer equal benefits to US cItizen students as well.NM & TX are the only states giving out grant monies also.

You can’t be AGAINST illegal immigration and proudly dangle free higher education to law breaking foreign nationals in Texas. Period!

The only way to halt illegal aliens fromeven WANTING to come here is to revoke their reservation at the public trough completely. Come in the FRONT door legally or not one thin dime of assistance from any level of government! No welfare. No food stamps. No education (my god, how our schools are broke because of them). No job either—JAIL every employer.

This social benevolence is KILLING America and is nothing but a liberal vote mill today!

Puhleeze! Let us clarify something. These people are foreigners—not even out-of-state, U.S. nationals but aliens. Our “own” people can’t get in-state tuition but illegals can? Now THAT is heartless!

Perry is AGAINST illegal immigration.

It's like saying that I am AGAINST people breaking into your house, but once they're in, I'ss be happy to help them take whatever of yours they want. And if you disagree with that, you don't have a heart.

I was moderately pro-Perry. Now I am back to being in favor of the eventual Republican nominee.

He is giving illegals tax $ breaks and priority over American citizens. In short, no thanks.
