Rick Perry Says I Have No Heart
Ward World ^ | 09/23/2011 | Kevin A Ward

Posted on 09/22/2011 9:59:08 PM PDT by kevinaw2

I have desperately been waiting for a true conservative to step up to the plate and win me over. I had thought Rick Perry was the guy. On the issues as a whole I’m in Perry’s corner. I would prefer his position on the issues to go forward as our standard, but then there was his defense of Texas’ “Dream Act”.

I respect Rick Perry defending his position on illegal immigration. He stuck to his guns despite its being a liability in Republican primaries. Most voters disagree with him, but he defended it. Ok. That’s why we have debates after all.

It was his concluding statement that has infuriated me. He defended his position by stating that those who oppose his position “have no heart”. Really? No heart? Rick Santorum jumped on this to his credit.

Rick Perry is free to defend his position as he sees it on the merits, but to suggest his critics are heartless is right out of the liberal textbook. As conservatives it is bad enough that we must endure such assaults from liberals and their acolytes in the mainstream media, but we’ve come to expect that and have effectively rebutted this view. But from Rick Perry? A conservative Republican Governor of Texas to criticize a dissenting view to label his conservative critics “heartless”? I would expect that from Barack Obama or Bill Clinton or Michael Moore, but from the front runner in a contest for President?

When it comes to politics, I can be as jaded and as cynical as they come in spite of an overall sense that we can overcome every obstacle. What Rick Perry said was an affront, an insult to every conservative who has ever had the indignity of being called “heartless”. I don’t agree with Rick Perry on the policy in question, so in his world I have no heart. That’s not politics, that’s personal to me. If Governor Perry insists upon employing liberal talking points to further his agenda, then maybe he should’ve remained a registered Democrat and stopped wasting my time in a Republican primary.

Excuse me, but I do believe that most of us here from Texas tried to warn our fellow FReepers.

(And you have no idea what joy it brings me to watch the eyes pop open.)

Palin came to Ft Hood for a book signing. My daughter tried to get her autograph.

But she only came two hours before SP. It was too late. The crowd was already thick.

She stuck around and ‘got a glimpse of her hair’ before it was all done. She said the crowd was motivated and excited the entire time and when Palin showed, she received the warmest welcome that Ft. Hood could put out.

She is beloved.

But I am concerned about her missing the debates. She needs to get into the thick of it now to prove she has the chops.

if she doesn’t jump in, I’m going to wait to see who’s ahead out of Cain, Newt and Bachmann. Out of those three, I’ll pull the lever in the the primaries.

What's heartless is turning a blind eye to the sex traffickers and "coyotes" that make a mint off illegal immigrants and then leave them to die in the deserts or live lives of sheer hell as prostitutes.

Perry is a balloon animal at a parade. He floated by last night just ahead of the Romnoid balloon animal.

Will an adult conservative please run for President. I realize in this day and age that it is a lot to ask of anyone.

Some have asked.. Hey! how about children of convicted felons serving time and unable to provide: Don't the children deserve some of that heart stuff? The kids didn't have anything to do with the parents crimes. No college for them?

Maybe, instead of calling it the "Dream Act", they should have called it the "Sins of the Father Act".

The "Dream Act" does not provide free college. It allows a student that grew up in Texas during his high school years (through no fault of his own) to pay the in-state tuition rate.

The children, that grew up in Texas during their high school years, of the most despicable murder on Death Row in Texas pay ..... Guess what?

The in-state tuition rate.

As Governor Perry pointed out, "Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue."

In a conservative state like Texas, when 98% of the State Legislature supports something, there must be some reasoning behind it. One of Perry's big problems is that, like George W. Bush, Perry does not bother to explain the facts and reasoning behind his actions.

As I have written from the beginning, Perry is the worst conservative candidate we have .... except for all the others. Other than Perry, there is no another single GOP candidate that has any realistic chance of beating Romney.

Those are the realistic choices for the GOP nomination: Perry or Romney.

Everything else is merely "Christine O'Donnell Will Kick Butt" thinking.

Oh, I forgot. There are also those that are expecting the Great Pumpkin to fly in some time in late October, enter the race and then magically coast all the way to the White House.

“The cringe-worthiest moment, by a hair, was when Perry botched what should have been his most potent attack on Mitt Romney’s chronic flip-flopping.”

Romney’s response? “Nice try.” ouch.

Remember the great 1984 Mondale debate line, "Where's the beef"?

Since then, Mondale's debate coach has written that Mondale had never seen the Wendy's commercial and had no idea what the line was about. After explaining it, the debate coach had Mondale practice and practice the line, with comical results in the beginning. After enough practice, Mondale was sent to the next debate with the line that somebody else came up with to pretend to be clever on his feet when the opportunity next arrived.

It worked because Mondale got the most laughs.

It seems that America is choosing Presidents based upon how well they can act like trained monkeys on a stage.

Definitely!

In fact, I think it would be hilarious if as many people as may want to put heartless in their tag, because I imagine there are a bunch of us like that here.

If I am going to be accused of being hearltess, Mr. Perry, then, by God, I am going to be heartless!

Perry’s just not smart enough and even more troubling, he just doesn’t want to work hard to overcome his deficiencies. Just doesn’t belong in the WH

We have no idea how smart he is. We only know that he is smart enough to fly Air Force jets, both single seaters and four engine C-130's, without killing himself.

On the other hand, it is reported that Perry chose to forego extra debate prep and training. That is troubling. The hubris of being the front-runner can come back to bite you.

Perry needs to step up his game preparation or the GOP nominee will be Romney.

Sorry but Palin is even less articulate than Perry. We don’t need 2 fumblers during the debates. .... ari-freedom

Palin less articulate than Perry...now that there is funny I don't care who you are...:oP .... Niteflyr

Sarah Palin has not allowed herself to be grilled in a hostile environment since 2008.

Sarah Palin's "interviews" consist of ultra-safe, cream puff questions, tossed underhand, by her fellow FOX News employees, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren.

When faced by an actual hostile interviewer whose job is not to protect her, Sarah Palin becomes a deer in the headlights that cannot even come up with the name of a single national newspaper.

============================

VIDEO: Sarah Palin Can't Name a Newspaper She Reads

Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?

Palin: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.

Couric: What, specifically?

Palin: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years.

Couric: Can you name a few?

Palin: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, "Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?" Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

Like you said...three years ago...one interview...let's condemn her....unlike Perry who stumbles like a drunk at every speaking opportunity...

>>> “ I don’t like Mitt so I am not objective.....he may have won. “ <<<

Rick LOST last night. BIG. If we just MUST elect the best debater over the honest one, then Romney is the man. Romney has been INVISIBLE except for debate night. What’s that about? Wonder why that is? It’s because he is establishment, of the FIRST degree. No one else is in the race that can out think Newt on any issue, or string two
thoughts and phrases together like Newt. Let’s go with him. Is he a winner? Rick may be no debater and that fact was known before he got in but his policies are ripe for the long game. The broader electorate is not hysterical on the HPV virus, nor on the reasonable treatment of illelgal immigrants brought here through no fault of their own. He is great on the stump. I believe I will double down too. Rick Perry 2012. He’s policy honest, warts and all? Who else is on the stage that can beat Obama?

George Bush called me a vigilante.

John McCain called me lazy.

Now Rick Perry has called me heartless.

Rick Perry is to the left of Mitt Romney on this issue, and you know that’s damning for your candidate.

Rick Perry can KMA.

Over the last two debates, Rick Perry has pretty much called me a heartless racist. Why would he WANT my vote?

Poor you. WAKE UP! Quit counting nits and get out of the trench and fight for someone who can defeat Obama! Or, get out of the way. Throw the towel in and just kiss this morning’s poll results for Romney. Conservatives have turned into whiners over a debate and given loft to Romney! Can you believe it! The fox holes are empty. They’re all over there patting Romney on the back.

Conservatives that believe in border security and NOT caudling criminals are now nitpicking?

If you look at my history since Perry got in this race, I was very much in support of him. Two debates ago Rick Perry called me a racist. Last night he called me heartless.

A) Why would he WANT the vote of a heartless racist?

B) If anyone is actively trying to nominate Romney, given his debate performances so far....you should talk to the Perry campaign because he’s practically served this thing up on a silver platter. What’s he going to do next, piss on Old Glory while setting fire to a picture of Reagan as his supporters demand our votes?

I don’t envy you.
