Opponents of a border fence (e.g. Rick Perry) say we shouldnt build it because whats needed is a program to turn off the jobs magnet that encourages illegal immigrants to try to cross the border in the first place. OK.
It turns out there is at least one such programits called E-Verify, and it checks the info supplied by job applicants against a national database of Social Security numbers, etc. , alerting employers if they are about to hire someone who seems to be in the country illegally.
Needless to say, the same people who oppose a border fence also tend to oppose E-Verify (e.g. Rick Perry). They claim this is because of inaccuraciesboth a small percentage of legal workers initially flagged as suspect and a higher number of-illegals the system doesnt catch.

hmm I’m for a border fence but opposed to e-verify
“They claim this is because of inaccuraciesboth a small percentage of legal workers initially flagged as suspect and a higher number of-illegals the system doesnt catch.”
Inaccuracies in a government run system? What next? $16 muffins? oh wait...
Why?
Why the opposition to e-Verify? I have lots of experience with it, and am extremely pleased.
And Perry supports giving illegals a work permit. He’s for policies that allow them to stay in the US and that allow more to enter, but opposes policies that would reduce future illegal entries and make it difficult for them to find employment.
Perry’s debate opponents need to unravel his contradictory positions on this issue so the voters can see where he really stands.
Obama is since E-Verify has flagged his SSN and isn’t eligible to work.
E-Verify ‘flags’ Obama’s Social Security Number

Why would anyone oppose an existing system that can force illegals out of work?
WE can work on other ways but we have seen how long that will take
In the meantime this is a system that actuallyworks a very high % of time
It is a start and it is in place now

Obama fears E-verify...
Until Sanctuary Cities and freebies are eliminated, there will be plenty of invaders around.
This “Obama fears E-verify...’
too true and still no media coverage
Earlier in 2011, there was a thread here on FR that said the Soc Sec Admin was charging a substantial fee for employeRs to sign up to use E-Verify.
Can anyone tell me if this is still the case???

On 28th sept..Yahoo will host the first-ever Hispanic-focused online roundtable with President Obama, the company announced Wednesday.
The discussion will be streamed live from the White House on Sept. 28. Jose Siade, Yahoos editor-in-chief for U.S. Hispanic and Latin America, will lead the conversation, which will focus on the economy, education, healthcare and immigration.
Users can submit questions by visiting Yahoo’s Spanish language site. The event will stream in both English and Spanish.
AOL Latino / HuffPost Latino Voices and MSN Latino will also participate in the roundtable.
The event is Obama’s latest effort to engage the public online, but his first Hispanic-focused online event. He participated in a Twitter town hall in July and a Facebook town hall in April. A LinkedIn town hall is scheduled for two days before the Yahoo event.

Obama must think only hispanics vote.
Ping!
There are no fees or direct costs associated with e-Verify. It is a web based system accessible from virtually anywhere. The only cost is the labor associated with accessing it, and that is nominal, especially considering the burdensome I-9 process that is also required.
