The broad and patriotic themes ticked off here need to be dusted off and brought to the fore, into the public square. Sarah and Glenn Beck have delivered this broader message, superbly, I believe. Now comes our slate of current candidates who would argue with none of these founding principles, but may differ between themselves to some extent on how to execute these high principles as a president of a nation of all immigrants, who are often politically divided, and increasingly of foreign religions, cultures and language. The candidates are tussling with the nuts and bolts of formulating policy, political philosophy, strategies and intentions and laying it out there to a nation who no longer uses the Ellis Island approach to assimilation. Sarah and Glen are not in a candidate’s shoes. Not one nut or bolt of theirs is up for scrutiny so long as they stick with the broad theme but never have to formulate, execute or deliver an actual play on the field. That’s the popular place to be as a fan of the game, but it doesn’t make you the MVP.

I defend Sarah. Just as I would Sonnie if I saw a gang of toughs smacking her around... or worse. It's what intelligent, well-raised gentlemen do when they see a lady being set upon by ignorant, slimey creases.
