The Ralphs supermarket chain has decided to shut down all of its Southern California stores for an undetermined amount of time if grocery workers go on strike, while Albertsons plans to close up to 100 of its stores.

We unfortunately have a heavy union presence in my town, and it really showed this evening as the lines at Vons Gas were literally throughout the entire parking lot as the union thug supporters were trying to gas up one last time before the strike. I just smiled as I drove past, knowing tomorrow I’ll be able to get my gas with hardly a line as the union thugs pull out the picket signs and protest that their $30 an hour jobs and under a hundred buck a month health care just isn’t enough for them...
That pretty much sums up the difference between us “non-union” slobs and our union counter-parts. They have no idea how “good” they have it.
I say let ‘em strike, and hire non-union labor. I will actually enjoy crossing their damn picket lines when I buy my groceries.
Reminds me of the grocery workers’ strike in 2003. When all was said and done, the union punks were either unemployed or worse off than before they went on strike.
Screw ‘em all. Bunch of ungrateful, worthless, lazy, self-entitled, greedy, irrational, liberal, union retards. I hope they get exactly what they deserve: NOTHING!
My GF had lunch there with an annoying friend of hers and brought me some, then I was hooked. If you love Thai food there’s another one close by called Galanga Thai Fusion on Sta Monica and Gardner, really close to that Ralphs when driving. You know the Astro Burger and Fat Burger right across each other? One block away.
If you want the best pasta/Italian food in L.A, then I will need to open another thread LOL
I think there is very little sympathy for unions who in most cases have it better than most all others.
Grocery stores will have no problem finding replacements.
Can they hold out for two years on unemployment when they strike?
The store response to Obama should be a proudly displayed middle finger IMO.
Tuk Tuck on Pico. Great Thai food.
Twin Dragon for other Chinese food on Robertson or so.
Tuk Tuk? Ok, we will try it right before after the Tea Party meeting on Beverly Hills. Chinese food, a dime in a dozen.
If you know any good Japanese restos’ nearby that you swear is affordable and good, let me know..
Midori is great, but not near by BH that I know of.
Yeah we’ve been to Midori at Studio City. Has there anyone in LA who has NOT been to Midori? (snicker) Nah, that’s cool. I was looking more at Century City that’s OK priced right after the TP..
“The store response to Obama should be a proudly displayed middle finger IMO.”
Yep. That’s exactly what my response was in 2003 (and will be again) if they give me any crap when I enter or exit the store.
F’em all.
Have you ever been to Tech Noir on Pico?
Look, even in a terrible economy, these strikers are highly-skilled workers with unreplaceable expertise in a very rarified industry. This was clearly a very good idea.
That’s what I thought. I mean where can we find skilled bag stuffers these days, or vegetable arrangers, or a good can stacker? You have to go to school for years to learn such vitally important skills. No wonder they pull in only 20-30 bucks per hour.
Yes.
Yes I have.
