Somebody Pls Explain Why We Care if the Palestinians Declare Themselves a "State".

I dont get why we care? so what if they say they are a state. Maybe then they would act like one.

well, i didn't expect that level of flame !!

still, going to take me a while to work thru the responses, but most don't make must sense: -anyone who occupies a piece of ground can declare themselves a state: Texas did it in the early 1800's

-that doesn't mean it will stick though

-correct me if i am wrong, but the UN resolution that authorized the partition of Palestine called for a Jewish and an Arab area. Later, in 1947, the UN voted to allow the Jewish zone to become a "State".

-so i dont see historically why the other zone is obviously not a State.

-i am not seeing the connection between the Palestinians having a state and them having more support for terrorism. isnt it likely to go down if they have their own country?

the biggest issue is the basing of terrorist attacks on Israel from gaza and now egypt. would it be easier to control this if they actually had a state?

The Palestinians have had 18 years of moving towards statehood instead of “terrorhood”, “mayhemhood” and “murderhood”.
In 1993 they signed an agreement with Israel. They recieved BILLIONS of aid from Europe and the USA. They recieved weapons, military vehicles, training (by the CIA, MI6, Mossad, etc.) about how to combat terror and create a rule of law nation. They NEVER obtained anything resembling a NORMAL state. Instead, they launched Intifadas and play up their victimhood status while teaching their children to kill Jews and continue the “armed struggle” (read kill all the Jews).
NOTHING HAS CHANGED since the PLO never made the conversion to the PA (Palestinian Authority). The ONLY Palestinian with a head on his shoulders is Salam Fayad, the Minister for Economics. Yet he is hated by his people and still he incites hatred against Israel.
The Palestinians themselves are divided, not about peace but about how to destroy Israel. Either you side with HAMAS in Gaza who believe Israel must die now or you side with the FATAH-PLO tactic which is to kill Israel in stages. That's it!
The Palestinians are not ready to become a full member nation amongst the nations of the world and if the UN, Russia, China and the other scum support it, they will have created ANOTHER ARAB/MUSLIM FAILED nation state that the rest of the world will have to deal with later and clean up the mess.
Is this what the Middle East needs right now? The answer is obvious...
