“Sounds of Silence” and “In the Arms of the Angel” were both appropriate for today and beautifully sang.

Perhaps you are one of those people who hear the melody rather than the words.

Please look upthread, where someone posted part of the lyrics to “Sounds of Silence”. I fail to see how this bit of nihilism relates to a commemoration of the attacks of September 11.

The McLachlan piece is about a musician putting himself “in the arms of an angel” by shooting heroine. Certainly does not call to mind the sacrifices of the heroes on that plane, IMO; it celebrates the narcissism of foul-mouthed celebrites like McLachlan.

Words, lyrics, phrases, mean whatever enters the heart of the listener as the listener is listening. What the songs mean to YOU or anyone else is irrelevant to ME.
