With Labor Day coming up, I find myself again reflecting on the wisdom of our elected leaders, who, in years past, had the insight to offer a holy day of celebration in honor of the American Labor Movement and its Marxist underpinnings.
But thats not all I found myself doing this fine weekend. No, I was on the road for an extended drive in my fairly new, reliable as hell, non-union-built Toyota Tacoma, which came equipped with Sirius Satellite Radio reception. Our single local conservative talk station, in typical lame fashion, had again bumped Rushs Weekend in Review for some stupid ball game, so I was dialing through the Sirius options.
Then suddenly it happened.
Some backstory (Ill make it mercifully brief, I hope). I grew up listening to my mothers old 78s of classical music, and eventually studied such things formally, and have always been in love with such music. But, as a youngster I also grew up with the Rock & Roll of the 50s, the British Invasion of the 60s and the whole sweep of the folk era. I loved it all.
Musical fads come and go, and some since then seemed more appealing to me than others, but, except for a fond affection for Bevis and Butthead, I never thought Heavy Metal would have enough appeal for me to even bother giving it a listen. I dont think I ever actually heard a single recording of it. Until today.
It happened as I dialed to the Sirius Heavy Metal station in the opening moments of some song (never caught the name), and my LED display said Holy Grail was the name of the artist. The music was simply amazing, like nothing I had ever heard before. The ferocity of the energy and the ecstatic angst of the raw emotional turmoil battered my psyche into submission in a matter of seconds. But the musical bludgeoning then went on and on at this breakneck, unrelenting intensity for what seemed like hours, and when it finally did end, I found myself a convert to this new object of worship.
And to satisfy my longing for that hit of the Divine, an announcer said this was Beyond the Throne: an entire weekend devoted to the greatest drummers in the history of Heavy Metal. And then the music started again, another group, another song, but that same sublime, raw, heavenly energy going on and on. Glorious.
The next few hours of the trip home were beyond my ability to describe, or even to assimilate, or recall clearly. I had been born again in my musical tastes, washed clean with the pounding beat and strident riffs descending from a tortured Heaven. Hallelujah!
So why am I posting this Vanity on Free Republic, using up precious bandwidth when the Republic is going to hell in a hand basket, and the bandwidth of FR one of our few lifelines?
Just this. In the midst of the second hour of this dark, high-energy torrent, a stunning insight came to me with the force of a nuclear shock wave of Truth: A people who could conceive, create and enjoy this sort of maniacal musical maelstrom would be a people invincible in the event of an upcoming race war such as many believe we are headed for. A people merely capable of Rap, or whatever angry music the Hispanics listen to, would never be a match for people capable of the sort of controlled mayhem found in Heavy Metal.
I recall, I think, a poll where combat soldiers of our current wars were asked what music they liked to go into battle with, and I seem to recall some Heavy Metal songs among them. It made no sense to me back then, because I had never heard the stuff, but now I have. The perfect energy for facing death. The prefect energy for righteous, even celebratory killing.
My hats off to all you fellow FReepers who love this music, and of whom I would have thought lessor until today. I hope you guys are by my side when the SHTF. You guys rock!
Ooops almost forgot Christian Metal tons of good stuff there. Just goes to show Heavy Metal covers lots of genres and can be used as an tool to deliver God’s message to all his children of all races that salvation comes through Jesus the Christ his son who died for our sins.
Thou this genre of metal gets overlooked some of the bands should be in Heavy Metal Hall of Fame right up there with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc.

Well, yes. They would say something like that, they are racists. That's the thing. Racists see things in terms of race and talk about race wars. Most people don't. Nobody serious is out there predicting race wars. Racist groups do.
Will do!
Yes Dream Theater got two songs on the playlist because of their legendary drummer - the drummer had a very tight, solid sound, a real driving force. The band’s sound was definitely an experimental variation, more complex and requiring a whole different level of listening, but very good.
Try Savatage's "Prelude to Madness" and "The Hall of the Mountain King."
” . . and who also seem to want to start shooting at a differing skin color . . .”
Nobody I know WANTS to be doing so. Nobody I know wants a race war. But I think it incredibly naive not to think there are obvious forces at work that are moving us in that direction.
If you truly think this an impossibility or even highly unlikely, then consider - given the demographics and the economic, political and societal collapse gathering steam in our nation, given the happenings along our border states and the talk of the more radical “reconquistador” agitators, given the black-on-white flash mobs throughout the country and the talk of even further such violence resembling the spreading racial/ethnic violence across Europe, given the blind eye and even facilitation of such things by a racially motivated Justice Department, and given all the Federal agencies involved in the Fast and Furious scandal: if you are blissfully ignorant of all that, or think it’s all insignificant, I have to question how much you’ve been keeping up with the news here at FR, and whether you may need to spend a bit less time listening to music.
I don’t agree with that blanket denunciation.
IF the fiscal and cultural conflict here ever boils over to guns or if we lost power for over a few days in urban areas one could most definitely see armed struggle with some racial division.
Just look at the Super Bowl after Katrina.
Whites vote 55-65% GOP...90% in my homestate
Blacks vote 90- 97% Democrat
Latinos ...70% Democrat
other divisions too amongst religious and ethnic lines
hence..all that could be a component
with exceptions
to realize that is not racist, it’s realism
in fact in places like Jackson Mississippi and Memphis and southside Chicago, it’s already a low hum race war..if your car breaks down in those areas after dark you better hope one of the locals is a good Samaritan or that a cop will help
can’t say the same for when a minority from those areas has car trouble in a white area
Calling for race wars is another matter and one only outliers who are insignificant do so...maybe 1/10th of one percent of whites and maybe 2-3% of blacks..Nation of Islam types...Black Guerilla Army..and so forth
Minorities better not want a race war in some parts of the country...it would fare poorly for them
I should have clarified something. Christian Identity types...Posse Commitatus..Elowah compound...those sorts...think of non whites as just trash in the way.
Their real target is Jews. They view this as Biblical providence.
The struggle between Shem and Edom.
I want people to make music - not so much listen to it. Reserving the right to revise and extend my remarks, because I am leaving to make some myself.
“Nobody I know wants a race war.”
And that’s why you and your ilk won’t shut up about it. But I suppose that, like Ron Paul in his racist newsletters*, you all are are showing true colors (weak pun intended) and doing normal people a favor.
Ah, but if my “ilk” offends the Love & Peace you have found in this music, if we can’t all just get along in a musical genre whose power has united the races, I will certainly just shut up about it.
Sorry to have disturbed your tranquility - please feel free now to put your headphones back on and Imagine the world in your own chosen way, until the power goes off.
Adios, brother.
Why are you pinging *me*?
You ~know~ I only like disco.

You endangered my life with that link. Nearly died laughing.
I would never want a war in this country, even if “we” win this country won’t be the same.
Sorry....:)
[his new album contains a song titled “Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever”...in which “Stayin’ Alive” is not an option]
;D
Wow.
This happy-go-lucky thread sure took a turn for the weird.
:-\
You’re the imaginative one, imagining or maybe even longing for a need (or excuse?) to kill those of a different skin color in your vision of a possible American future. Don’t call me brother. I’m brother to no coming-race-war monger. But thanks again for being Stormfront up-front and honest.
This old lady loves classic rock and especially 80’s. Guess raising boys in the 80’s had something to do with it.
