She’s given herself until Halloween to decide?

Palin:...Family comes first in my life, and I just don’t want to adversely affect the family. So, we’re still talking about it, thinking about it. And that’s what I want supporters to understand.

At the same time, I want to be very fair to supporters and not keep them hanging on in perpetuity. It’s fair to them to give them an answer here, in short order, so that they can jump on board with someone else, and/or to decide for themselves what they want to do. So, still haven’t made up my mind, haven’t decided when that announcement would be yet.

David Brody: Is that short order by the end of September? October?

Palin: I think that that is a fair timeline for people, because Fall time, they can start getting engaged with different campaigns, but still thinking about it, and really, really desiring to be a participant in the positive change that needs to happen in this country.

Economy getting back on the right track. Jobs created for Americans. I want to be a part of that, whether it be as a candidate, or as a supporter of the right candidate. I’m still in that decision making phase.

Well, I’ve seen elsewhere she herself put forth September as the limiting month. In your text it is Brody who puts October out there. She doesn’t argue with Brody, but she does sweep the time frame back into the generality of “Fall.” I suspect there was purpose in that.

As for the notion of serving as either candidate or some other way, she’s been saying that from the beginning, as well she should, since part of what she is doing is providing inspirational leadership for other, non-politicos to get into the effort to restore America, her driving theme, and a major part of the Tea Party ethos.

However, maintaining the ambiguity right up to the last moment is also a legal necessity. Bannon put a million of his own dollars into Undefeated, and SarahPac is bankrolling the bus tour. All those would count as contributions in kind if given while she was a declared candidate and officially in control, but right now they are just other people spending money. When she removes the ambiguity, her money flow comes under much stricter FEC scrutiny, so she will have to keep muddying the waters until it all systems go. Just the way it is.
