In other news, Gibson competitors who donated heavily to Obama and use exactly the same wood were not prosecuted.

It's worth mentioning that Gibson is a successful domestic manufacturer that employs hundreds of people that would normally work overseas. Musical instruments are a labor intensive product, and Gibson could easily reduce its costs by moving its operations to Asia. Like a few iconic brands like Harley Davidson, Gibson trades on its reputation for quality by maintaining US operations.

Not entirely true. Gibson offers the same models under it's Epiphone brand, made in China. But the USA made Gibsons are considered higher quality, and cost 4-10 times as much.

Yet another example of what political commentator Sam Francis termed 'Anarcho-Tyranny', where actual criminals are not pursued or prosecuted, and the armed agents of 'the law' spend their time harrassing the law-abiding.

Hey, Gibson's lucky -- they could have been running a *gasp* lemonade stand.

"Our" gov't needs a serious smackdown.

Good thing they didn't attack the Bozeman, MT factory.

One theory posits that Gibson is being targeted for retribution after it moved its factories from union friendly Michigan to right-to-work Tennessee...

Nail, meet head... Head, nail.

No Federal agent was armed until 1934, and that was the FBI. Now Fish and Wildlife has a SWAT team.

We know from the story of Peggy Ann Bargon that the Department of the Interior has a SWAT team used to raid people’s property.

If you added up all the armed agencies (including Department of Education) how large is the Federal standing army?

Found this, too:

This year’s raid seems to be about wood from India. The Justice Department “has suggested that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department’s interpretation of a law in India,” Gibson explains. “This action,” the company hastens to point out, “was taken without the support and consent of the government in India.”

I don't begrudge Fish and Wildlife a SWAT team, considering that many areas of National Forest have been taken over by Mexican drug cartels for meth labs and marijuana grows. They bring in poor Mexicans to camp out there, and give them guns. As a result they kill any and all wildlife for food. It's misuse of the SWAT teams that's the problem, not their existence.

There are so many laws and regulations that any company can become entangled in the web of a crafty bureaucrat.

Any individual too. Be a fun article to follow someone and tabulate the laws they break in a normal day.

“oh yeah and gibson had just moved from a union state to a right to work state”

Actually, Gibson moved out of Michigan years ago. Not saying that Gibson is not getting screwed, they are. But it’s not due to a recent move.

I read the full warrant application yesterday. There were also some very minor paperwork errors, on some very confusing paperwork! My LEO body read it and was stunned! He asked “WTH was Homeland Security involved in this?” and, “They’re treating Gibson as if they are terrorists!”

Gibson closed it’s Kalamazoo, Michigan, facility in 1984. Since then, they’ve made guitars in Montana and Tennessee.
