(You can tell the folks around here who don't get out much, because rather than shake their heads at the above sentence, they'll read it and go 'yup'.)"

Does anyone know the laws involving political candidates and money? For example, if a person has not announced their candidacy and has not filed papers indicating an intent to seek the office of President can they divert to personal use funds raised as they travel around making speeches, personal appearances and icome derived from publishing books and articles?

What will they all say when she announces?

Interesting question. When that first line of (psychological) defense is breached when she announces, it will be interesting to see what positions they fall back to. In fact, I recently saw someone here post a hypothetical list of the entire sequence of retreat positions (my apologies to the original poster - I can't remember who it was or even what thread). Together with that and a few ideas of my own, I imagine it will be some combination of the following:

1) She’s too smart not to know that she'll be crushed by Perry anyway so jumping in the race and thus losing her post as really cool cheerleader will be her own fault for daring to run

2) Our best conservative hope in Perry was destroyed by those merciless, leftist Palinbots overexposing a few of his trivial weaknesses and it’s all her fault for daring to run

3) She'll spilt the conservative vote allowing Romney getting through, which will destroy the Republican brand for a generation and it will be all her fault for daring to run (a variation on #2 and basically the same as your "she's ruining it for all the others")

4) Ron Paul will come from behind and crush everybody (OK, I just threw that in for grins)

5) Sure she's got the GOP nomination but now we are guaranteed to lose in the general and the inevitable consequence of 4 more years of Obama will be all her fault for daring to run

6) The polls show her hopelessly behind Obama proving we were right that the end of the world would result if she ran so all the evil that follows will be all her fault for daring to run

7) Sure she devastated Obama in that last debate but a month is not enough time to overcome her deficit in the polls proving we were right that the end of the world would result if she ran so all the evil that follows will be all her fault for daring to run

8) The exit polls all show we were right that nominating Palin ruined our chances proving we were right that the end of the world would result if she ran so all the evil that follows will be all her fault for daring to run

9) The Soros-backed attorneys will keep the results of this very close election in doubt for months and the resulting instability and uncertainty is all Sarah's fault for daring to run

10) She'll never get to the inauguration ceremony and it will be all Bristol’s fault for dancing with the stars

11) She won't actually get sworn in and it will be all Piper’s fault because she shoved that reporter

12) Dang it, now what do I do?

To the last of which I would respond, “How about getting a real job?”

Please.... Chessie Checkers is how the Dems made her resign in Alaska. Can’t believe how so many can be so willfully blind!

“The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice.”

Because of the unforseen availability inside the ethics law she rooted for and signed, she re-signed. Her lawyers shudda caught the garage-door loophole in the new law she “championed”; the Democrat lawyers certainly did. But she was Governor, her lawyer wasn’t. She helped push that law along and decided to sign it. She was in charge. She was leading. And where did she lead Alaska (and her own family) to? Into court, into an impossible snarl of insignificant-yet-incredibly-expensive Democrat pettiness. Sarah apparently trusted her Alaska opposition the way Carter trusted Soviet Premier Brezhnev in the late 70s, the same way she seemed to trust Gibson/Couric’s intentions on two separate occasions in 2008. And now you all want all of us to trust her (if she actually does announce candidacy).

I hate when people try to force political analogies into another topic.

"Today, I will show you why Sarah Palin is a lot like coding, debugging, and deploying an ASP.NET website, particularly when one is using Microsoft Application Blocks such as Security and the SQL namespace."

"Today, I will show you why Sarah Palin is a lot like pulling guard, positioning, and submitting an opponent with an armbar, particularly when one is using takedowns followed by ground and pound."

"Today, I will show you why Sarah Palin is a lot like rubbing, prepping, and grilling a full rack of pork ribs grilled on the pit, particularly when one is using a Kansas City brown sugar rub and a molasses based BBQ sauce."

"Today, I will show you why Sarah Palin is a lot like mashing, distilling, and aging Tennessee Whiskey, particularly when one is a corn base and a sour mash across multiple stills to add consistency."

All well and good, but chess does have deep roots, both historically and analytically, in political/military game theory, so while some of the individual sub-analogies may be a bit strained, there's enough congruence that the chess analogy is likely to persist as part of the vocabulary of this discussion, particularly when Palin evinces superior strategic thinking and planning in a game theory context. She's a natural at this, and people need a way to talk about it. Chess is simply off-the-shelf handy for that purose. Not unlike a MS Application Block. :)

The law was passed and signed (in response to the Murkowski corruption) well before she ever imagined she would be involved in national politics. So your latest "blame the victim" meme utterly fails.

Ethics law she championed and signed well before she ever imagined she would be involved in national politics quickly, because of its glaring, opposition-friendly, incumbent-handicapping loopholes “became their weapon of choice.”

Unintended consequences - One of Sarah's achievements caused her resignation. Can't see how to explain it any simpler. Governor Sarah helped build and field the weapon her opponents easily, quickly, and cleverly used to run her out of office.

She’s only viewed as a bad national candidate because she was handled quite poorly by McCain’s handlers. As the one on top of the ticket it was his prerogative to run his campaign the way he wanted. Thus, we’ve never really seen a “Palin” campaign in a national race. You need to look to her running style in Alaska to understand how she runs a campaign. Anyone who can unseat a powerful sitting governor is someone with political savvy. Nothing is carved in stone and media created perceptions can change. Look at the media’s portrayal of Reagan vs. the opinion of the people. The same can be said of 0bama but in the opposite direction. If you’re basing your perception on her VP run with McCain then your perceptions are wrong.

One of Sarah's achievements caused her resignation

Oh yeah, it was all her fault! And Obama, Pete Rouse, Rahm Emmanuel, Kim Elton, Hollis French, the Alaska state legislature, and the Alaska anklebiters had NOTHING to do with it.

You PDS'ers don't realize how ludicrous your latest "blame the victim" meme sounds. "She quit" never gained any traction, and so this is your fallback talking point?

Laughable.

Get used to the smell of ozone. You'll be reeking of it shortly.

>> “ Even those who question his every move still will not even consider Obama is a scam, a total fraud.” <<

.
You can easily say that about Romney, Huntsman, and Perry, but not about Palin nor Bachmann.

The three Metro-Boys are so much like Obama that they really do not see anything wrong with him, but Palin and to some extent Bachmann, have shown that they are cognizant of Obama’s goals, and Palin has advocated many steps toward repairing the damage.

Directing attention toward electing anyone but Palin is indicative of a bent similar to that of Obama.
