I want a modern day Grover Cleveland for our next President. The record for vetoes in a single congressional session (212) and vetoes in a single presidential term (414) should fall. Both of those records are held by Grover Cleveland. If we can beat those two records, maybe we can work on most vetoes in two complete presidential terms (584) also held by, you guessed it, Grover Cleveland.
Oh, and his veto letters often started out something like, "I can find no warrant for such an appropriation in the Constitution, and I do not believe that the power and duty of the general government ought to be extended to ..."
Actually, your ‘veto pen’ idea could be set very nicely in the theme of the Rifleman’s Creed.....try it...
