Hold up a pen and say, "This is my veto pen. It will get a lot of use. I plan to write, 'I've looked through Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, and nowhere in there do I see where Congress has the authority to act in this area."

I want a modern day Grover Cleveland for our next President. The record for vetoes in a single congressional session (212) and vetoes in a single presidential term (414) should fall. Both of those records are held by Grover Cleveland. If we can beat those two records, maybe we can work on most vetoes in two complete presidential terms (584) also held by, you guessed it, Grover Cleveland.

Oh, and his veto letters often started out something like, "I can find no warrant for such an appropriation in the Constitution, and I do not believe that the power and duty of the general government ought to be extended to ..."
