NYT’s Friedman:‘Way too soon to tell’if media blew it vettingObama the candidate
Daily Caller ^ | 8/21/11 | Jeff Poor

During the 2008 presidential election season, many Americans were captivated by then-candidate Barack Obama’s promises of hope and change. And some would argue that much of the media were taken in by the promises too. Nearly three years into the Obama presidency, is it fair to say the media were duped? On Sunday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” host Howard Kurtz asked New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman just that question. According to Friedman, the jury is still out.

"...is it fair to say the media were duped?

Not only is it "fair", it's downright logical to assume these bozo-like clowns were duped.

-- They were duped by their socialist hippie parents
-- They were duped by all the television and movies they watched
-- They were duped by their commi-lovin' professors in journalism school
-- They were duped by their progressive, America-hating Managers and Supervisors
-- They were duped by their leftist-Marxist fellow journalists

Have I left anything out?

Week one of Perry's candidacy is over.

Mud slung has covered big business ties, hypocrisy charges, land deals, gardasil, illegals, infidelities with women and men, budgets, jobs, his college grades, ethics, education, global warming view, his religion, "anti-science," evolution, stem cells, his own medical treatments, guns, border, the stimulus, big oil, big pharma, minimum wage, college classmates, his parents, his farm, subsidies, al gore …

In ONE week it's as if he's been vetted more than Obama

Friedman isn't yet sure if the media blew it with Obama? Come on.

Wow! Sounds like the liberal media has buyers remorse after three years.

Wonder if they kept the receipt?

I don’t know, kind of fits in well with a war mongering peace prize winner.

We all vetted him. All Friedman has to do is accept the facts, do his job and report them. Pretty simple.

You know how the new narrative will go?

The MSM will claim that they had such faith in the system that they honestly thought there was no need to check, “but never again”, they will cry.

Then they will proceed to overturn every single stone on the Republican candidates hoping for anything they can find, no matter how nonsensical, including the possibility (just even a possibility), that one of their ancenstors once turned in a slave or that that a college bud had a one night stand with a goat in Tiajuana 50 years ago.

Whatever it takes to discredit him/her.

It was just a type. No need to snark. Friedman’s errors are not typos. He is stuck on stupid as a way of life.

Yes, I know it was a typo. I make them all the time. But I proofread extra carefully if I’m going to comment negatively on someone else’s intelligence.

It just seemed unnecessary. A little too nit picky for my taste.

You are correct by the way, about Friedman being stuck on stupid. And his response in this case is not only stupid but incoherent as well.

Spelling counts when you question someone else’s intelligence.

No it doesn't. Spelling is Knowledge,Logic is Intelligence.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” - Author Unknown

Right to the heart of the matter. A public so stupid to elect a man such as Obama is the greatest problem facing this nation. We shall all suffer for it. A re-adjustment is coming, and the stupid people will fare the worse for it.

I’d rather just encourage everyone slow down, open their eyes and choose the best conservative candidate. It seems that the media has caught on that Romney is a no show. So, now they are cramming Perry down our throats. The media has never pushed a conservative.

What derogatory information do you have regarding Perry? In what way is he not a conservative?

After three years Barack Obama Sr’s role in the assassination of Tom Mboya hasn’t been looked into, but after one week everybody knows Rick Perry’s college grade point average.

I take your point. But the fact is that misspellings and grammatical errors detract from the writer's credibility. Case in point? Try sending out a resume with typos and spelling errors, and see how far you get.

You have a point, but I have long been the victim of "spelling nazis" and so I am somewhat sensitive to the charge that it constitutes a lack of intelligence. I am constantly trying to learn to spell better. English is the only language in the world that has Spelling Bees, and that is because it is the only language in the world made up of so many words from other languages. It's rules are extensive and sometimes contradictory and it is easy to get things mixed up. For example, the word "Weird" violates the ole "I" before "E" rule.

Thank God for spell check! :)

The only non conservative things I’ve seen is some apparent pay to play deals and his related vaccine fiasco. On my scorecard, his positives outweigh his negatives and if he were the candidate in the general election I could vote for him without holding my nose. I haven’t been able to do that since 1984. I’m not sure he’s the best we have to offer yet so I’m not commiting to anyone for at least several months.

I forgot. Perry hangs out with brown supremacists and is anti-secure borders.
