And always has been, sadly. It's the war on liberty, as planned, right from the start.
That type of distorting would explain your apparent lack of logic and overabundance of high emotion. Anyhow, we don't see this one the same. And I suspect - never will.
You’re right. Thanks for being on the thread with me.
Yep - and the dirty ones are NOT America's shame - they are the shame of themselves and the departments that abide by them.
I once read that J Edgar Hoover kept the FBI out of drug investigations because he knew the $$$ was too big and there was no way to keep the Bureau clean.
It is pure logic.
I don't trust nor like them.
I watched cops destroy a friend of mine's life because he choose to run for Sheriff.
Cops have hassled, hit on and sexually harassed my daughters since they were young.
Cops have NEVER recovered anything of mine that was stolen.
Cops have hassled me repeatedly because my name is the same as a wanted felon - against a direct court order to leave me alone.
Cops have only cost me time agony and money. I have no use for them. That is not emotional it is purely a life choice, just like the bad stepson you throw out of the house when he hits 18yo. I choose not to associate or trust certain people who have not earned the right to be trusted - cops just fit in that category.
I am personally responsible for putting one CHP officer in prison and wrecking one other one's career. Helped get a bad Sheriff retired early. I will do it again in a heart beat if they try and illegally cross me again.
Yeah, It's a shame that the 90% of cops that are bad give the other 10% a bad name
Sorry but the day that the police are your friends are long gone. Cops are revenue generators for the state, nothing more. Ticket or Click it, Madd laws, low speed limits, War on Drugs, to name a few have guaranteed only low life thugs will be attracted to being cops.
Simple question, if Obama or some other Democrat ordered the seizure of all guns, what percentage of policeman do you think would go out there and gleefully use any means necessary on their fellow citizens to enforce it?
I'd wager that number would be 95%+
The anti-police post you see on the thread come from the nutty fringe of the Libertarian party. Never could understand their rage against law enforcement, but in there way of looking at things laws are oppressive and those who enforce the laws are the bad guys. Strange, I know, but you see them flock to bad cop stories like sharks to fresh meat.
When there was a story run on FR about the 4 Lakewood WA police officers gunned down in a coffee shop, there were actually a few here saying “good” they deserve it, and making jokes about cops in a coffee shop. I almost ended my FR days right there, I was so sickened by the remarks of these nutty few.
“Sorry - but my standard for cops isn’t total perfection”
Ethics doesn’t require total perfection, only the ability to know right from wrong, and the requisite fortitude to act on that knowledge so you remain on the right side.
The cop culture says “don’t call out your brother cop, no matter what”. Do you deny that is an essential element of cop culture?
“Its been my experience that all the cops I have ever dealt with are pathological liars.”
That is not my experience. My experience is that most know right from wrong, but almost none of them have the fortitude to act on that knowledge when they see a fellow cop doing something wrong, even very wrong. That’s not so much pathological as it is dysfunctional - and it inhibits natural self-correcting mechanisms inherent in well-meaning people to guide an organization away from corruption.
Seems like we have yielded to much authority to the state to protect and serve us. Unions further complicate the problem. Cities and counties should contract out police services to the private sector, opening it up to competition which brings about more accountability.
Perhaps “pathological liar” is the wrong term. What I mean is that cops regularly lie as a matter of course. When a cop is dealing with a civilian, they don’t feel obligated to tell the truth.
