Rep. Michele Bachmann, Governor Rick Perry and former Senator Rick Santorum met in Waterloo, Iowa this evening to speak to the Blackhawk County Republicans. Santorum spoke first then Rick Perry spoke and after that Bachmann spoke last, but before that this strange event happened:
Chuck Todd NBC: Bachmann would not enter the building until they had confirmation from staffers INSIDE that the lights had been changed. Overheard a Bachmann staffer supervising the light change say: "We're a go"
Peter Hamby CNN: Lights were dimmed for Bachmann when she took the stage
HotAir Ed Morrissey: Wrap-up from Waterloo: Perry embraced, Bachmann falls a little flat
The lighting had to be changed before Bachmann spoke, apparently at the campaigns insistence, which delayed her entrance and interfered with the timing of her entrance announcement. But more puzzlingly, Bachmann didnt arrive to mix with the crowd before the event started, waiting until she was scheduled to speak to enter the Electric Ballroom.
That’s interesting, and also worrisome as far as Bachmann’s ability to campaign and serve. Do we really want a leader who is so sensitive?
If she’s that environmentally vulnerable, her migraines may be more debilitating than we first thought, and perhaps a disqualifier.
Not to mention See BS.
No, everyone knows he’s a squatter.
[Obama pees sitting down.]
Yeah, I heard he’s always complaining to Michelle about leaving the seat up.
That’s an interesting theory, and would give Palin the organization she appears to lack. However, that’s contrary to the story other Palin freepers tell us about how mean Bachmann is to Palin and how they haven’t talked in 16 months and that Bachmann lied when she said she and Palin were “Friends”.
Also, remember that Bachmann was Romney’s trojan horse (or was it stalking horse?) If Palin had a plan to pick up Bachmanns strong base of support, wouldn’t it be better if Palin supporters weren’t tearing down Bachmann so much?
And I would think Palin would send a couple of tweets suggesting that, because she’s politically savvy.
Bachman was well-advised. Harsh, over-bright lighting would permit the news media to show her in stark light and shadows, while mingling with the crowd before taking the stage would diminish the welcoming applause she would get.
Or maybe she just didn’t want a headache. All migraines hurt like he**, as far as I can find out but they don’t have to strike constantly, nor put the sufferer out of commission either. Personally, I hope Sarah runs, but if she doesn’t I will probably(unless someone better comes along)vote for Bachmann. I would rather have someone who gets headaches now and then, than to have Romney or some other frickin’ RINO in charge.
Exactly. This is FreeRepublic, yet we have pro-Palin posters smearing other conservative candidates.
Why is that?
Dumping on Bachmann is a very dumb and short-sighted strategy from the Palin camp.
The plan might or might not include the parts you think it should.
It might look better if there was a brief skirmish between Palin and Bachmann that Palin won.
Bachmann could step aside on the day Palin announces and say “I never intended to win, I was just keeping the seat warm for Sarah.” But that might not look great.
She may have been having a migraine episode. Many who suffer migraines have issues with certain kinds of light.
GMTA
No vitriol here, I really like Bachmann. I like her better than Perry and will never, ever vote for Romney.
Well now that I know you were series it is fine.
You are an old woman named Jedidah? Sorry.
Happens to us all, if we’re lucky.
So, obviously it happens to old men, too!
But, perhaps men lose their minds and eyesight earlier, so they do not realize they should stay out of the light.
Google the name.
Not being a great biblical scholar, I was easily sent down the wrong path.
Sorry, again. Again, I blame my feeble eyes and mind. Guess I can now also blame my limited biblical study.
Yes, she is not presidential material..too slow and monotone usually. She is a good congresswoman.
