This goes beyond the birther issue. My opinion of the SSgt's move is silly...You can't pick and choose your leaders and his orders in this case doesn't come from the President but from the UCMJ. I am saying this as a retired SNCO based on fact...What the guy is doing is stupid. He signed a contract and took an oath...he's in violation of it and that is a court-martial offense starting from an Article 15 to a BCD. My recommendation would be separation under less than honorable condition.
National Politics has no place in the military. He picked his battle but in the wrong forum. When someone goes AWOL or desert the other people performing their duty honorably must pick up the slack of the missing Airman. In a critical situation this can get people killed.
I don't know about you but that pisses me off.
Think twice before you support this guy. I doubt he'll get any sympathy from combat vets.

“In a critical situation this can get people killed.”
So can illegal orders issued from the top by an ineligible usurper. I’ve served in combat (seven years of my life on active duty, including direct involvement in Desert Storm), and I support this guy. No one should have to place themselves in harm’s way at the behest of an illegal usurper. If you can’t see that, then . . .
“Respectfully”, FJ
We must ALWAYS OBEY the Nationally Elected Leader. Though he may have been born in a Foreign Country and has implemented a policy of National Socialism, we MUST NOT QUESTION his authority!
