In one of the first major parts of the Republican nomination process, we have a winner at the Iowa straw poll. Underneath are the winners, and other relevant numbers that have come out so far:
Michele Bachmann with 4,823 votes
Ron Paul with approximately 4,600 votes
Tim Pawlenty with approximately 2,200 votes
Rick Perry had 712 write-in votes.
16,892 ballots were cast. Rick Santorum came in fourth. That's about 3,000 more than expected.

Oops, I mean Santorum has 4 more votes in the Hotline list, not Gingrich.

Both parties are driving us to socialism, it's just a matter of how fast each party is driving. The Dems are driving at 95 mph, the Repubs have the cruise control set at 55.

Evidently Myth Romney is an illusion created by the democratic propaganda arm.. CNN and MsNBC...
Wonder what excuses Myth will choose to explain all this..

I don't fear that two-bit fraud at all. He's a very solf *front runner*.
He'll not be the GOP nominee.

having been born and raised in Iowa, I’m not thrilled with Bachman, even though we were born i the same city (Waterloo)

Stupid me. They probably only counted votes for announced candidates or something. Since Perry announced today, he’s now one of the candidates. Although then I have to wonder who the 162 other votes went to. Gary Johnson?
To: onyx
I wish more shared your sentiment...and they soon will because you are totally correct. He has NEVER been scrutinized and one of the candidates, declared or not, will gut him.
To: CharlesWayneCT
The other 162 were write ins for those that got less than 1%.

The Detroit Lions won their first exhibition game, 34-3.
Might as well hand them the Lombardi Trophy now.

I have to wonder who the 162 other votes went to. Gary Johnson? And/or Sarah Palin. I would think Palin would get more votes than Johnson.
