Why not the option, if Texas chooses?

It is against federal law to do so for starters.

Amnesty is the position of liberals. Even partial amnesty.

It’s fine to say the bill was veto proof and Perry acted with political expediency. That’s a legitimate explanation.

But when you actually support the offending legislation you reveal yourself to be on the side of the enemy.

These illegal “children” need to be removed from America.

That’s the beauty of our system: voters can disagree. Conservatives can disagree, too! It’s not a 100% or nothing.

I base my philosophy on being a Christian, first. Christianity confirms the Declaration of Independence’s hierarchy of rights as life, liberty and property. Making accommodations for the children who went to school and graduated after at least 3 years in our schools is consistent with my philosophy.

I disagree with your premise that nationalized citizens will vote Democrat. The abortion and marriage planks in the Dems’ platform is offensive to the family- and church-oriented immigrants.

The facts don't bear you out. Immigration, Political Realignment, and the Demise of Republican Political Prospects

Take a look at Harris County, Dallas County, Tarrant County, and Bexar county. Immigrants vote Democrat and have historically.

The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in a net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 310 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 130 million to 440 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the world’s third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.977 percent (2010 estimate), principally due to immigration.

87 percent of the 1.2 million legal immigrants entering annually are minorities as defined by the U.S. Government and almost all of the illegal aliens are minorities. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under in the U.S. will be classified as minorities and by 2039, half of the residents of this country will be minorities. Generally, immigrants and minorities vote predominantly for the Democrat Party. Hence, Democrats view immigration as a never-ending source of voters that will make them the permanent majority party.

Hispanic Family Values? Runaway illegitimacy is creating a new U.S. underclass.

"Unless the life chances of children raised by single mothers suddenly improve, the explosive growth of the U.S. Hispanic population over the next couple of decades does not bode well for American social stability. Hispanic immigrants bring near–Third World levels of fertility to America, coupled with what were once thought to be First World levels of illegitimacy. (In fact, family breakdown is higher in many Hispanic countries than here.) Nearly half of the children born to Hispanic mothers in the U.S. are born out of wedlock, a proportion that has been increasing rapidly with no signs of slowing down. Given what psychologists and sociologists now know about the much higher likelihood of social pathology among those who grow up in single-mother households, the Hispanic baby boom is certain to produce more juvenile delinquents, more school failure, more welfare use, and more teen pregnancy in the future.

The dimensions of the Hispanic baby boom are startling. The Hispanic birthrate is twice as high as that of the rest of the American population. That high fertility rate—even more than unbounded levels of immigration—will fuel the rapid Hispanic population boom in the coming decades. By 2050, the Latino population will have tripled, the Census Bureau projects. One in four Americans will be Hispanic by mid-century, twice the current ratio. In states such as California and Texas, Hispanics will be in the clear majority. Nationally, whites will drop from near 70 percent of the total population in 2000 to just half by 2050. Hispanics will account for 46 percent of the nation’s added population over the next two decades, the Pew Hispanic Center reports.

But it’s the fertility surge among unwed Hispanics that should worry policymakers. Hispanic women have the highest unmarried birthrate in the country—over three times that of whites and Asians, and nearly one and a half times that of black women, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Every 1,000 unmarried Hispanic women bore 92 children in 2003 (the latest year for which data exist), compared with 28 children for every 1,000 unmarried white women, 22 for every 1,000 unmarried Asian women, and 66 for every 1,000 unmarried black women. Forty-five percent of all Hispanic births occur outside of marriage, compared with 24 percent of white births and 15 percent of Asian births. Only the percentage of black out-of-wedlock births—68 percent—exceeds the Hispanic rate. But the black population is not going to triple over the next few decades."

The only bright news in this demographic disaster story concerns teen births. Overall teen childbearing in the U.S. declined for the 12th year in a row in 2003, having dropped by more than a third since 1991. Yet even here, Hispanics remain a cause for concern. The rate of childbirth for Mexican teenagers, who come from by far the largest and fastest-growing immigrant population, greatly outstrips every other group. The Mexican teen birthrate is 93 births per every 1,000 girls, compared with 27 births for every 1,000 white girls, 17 births for every 1,000 Asian girls, and 65 births for every 1,000 black girls. To put these numbers into international perspective, Japan’s teen birthrate is 3.9, Italy’s is 6.9, and France’s is 10. Even though the outsize U.S. teen birthrate is dropping, it continues to inflict unnecessary costs on the country, to which Hispanics contribute disproportionately."

The numbers are changing, though, as more learn what the Dems’ platform actually says.

Here in Comal Co., we are gaining Dems from other Counties, but the local Hispanics are turning to the right.

I’m a Christian first too. People can disagree, of course.

I’m just saying now that we all know you support amnesty, we understand why you promote Perry, and can ignore you as we would ignore any other amnesty supporter.

Amnesty, which you support, will end America. You should look in to chain migration laws for a better understanding of why.

Anyway why special rules for illegals to go to college when they cannot work here, cannot live here, cannot drive here?

Do you just want them to get that college degree before you kick them out?

No, that doesn’t make sense. You just don’t want them kicked out, ever.

There are a few other amnesty supporters here, though most were purged back during the McCain-Bush amnesty debate.

Good luck.

There is a direct correlation between the percentage of immigrants and how they vote. That is simply a proven fact. Immigrants and minorities vote Democrat. For example, CA used to be a Rep state.

You seem to like to be generous with other people's money. Do you support providing food stamps to children who were brought here by their parents as minors? How far does your Christian charity extend?

LOL. Comal County is not representative of what is happening nationally. I provided you a list of the 25 largest counties in the US, which depicted the correlation between immigration and voting patterns for 1980, 2000, and 2008.

The teen birth rate increased in more than half of all 50 states in 2006, according to an NCHS report released today. Click here for the report.

The data show teen birth rates were highest in the South and Southwest, with the highest rate recorded in Mississippi (68.4), followed by New Mexico (64.1) and Texas (63.1).

If the parents are illegal and the children were born here and are citizens,

So which is it ???

Born here gets a child automatic citizenship, does it not?

Why are we having the conversation anyways?
Does not the act of having been born here in a US hospital get said child a birth certificate?

Okay, so I assumed wrong then. They get free hospital services and such but the term anchor baby has been defined in the minds of many Americans as;

an anchor baby is a term used for when an illegal alien mother-to-be hops the border into the country right when she’s ready to deliver the baby, and gives birth to the child inside the country, in order to gain legal residental status in the country, due to her child automatically being a citizen of that country, by virtue of being born in the country.

....If Perry wants illegals to be given in-state tuition rates and other bennies, he should work to get Congress to change federal law.

This is demogagury and you are a disingenuous debater.

Yes it does.

This thread is about children born abroad that are brought here by their parents illegally.
