Perry, Palin: fish or cut bait!
WingRight.org ^ | August 6, 2011 | Beverly Nuckols, MD

It's time for Governor Sarah Palin and Governor Rick Perry to fish or cut bait. Conservatives must begin the process of forming a coalition that can beat Obama. Like everyone else in the Nation, I'm waiting for an announcement from one or both, declaring their candidacy for the Republican nomination for President.

However, Conservatives must remember that we are first of all Conservatives, not Palin-supporters or Perry-supporters. Our true enemy is big government and threats to our Conservative ideals. We must strive to conduct the 2012 Primary in order to build up and not tear down fellow Conservatives and avoid writing the Dem's ads or making the progressive spoilers stronger.

Today, Governor Palin "reTweeted" an essay written by one of her supporters on the blog Conservatives4Palin. The article is absolutely more pro-Palin than anti-anyone, and rightly praises her for her accomplishments in her two years in office in Alaska. Unfortunately, the fact that she shared the piece is being touted as proof that Governor Palin will run and/or will not endorse Governor Perry.

If we are going to begin to compare the candidates, I would like to see a true comparison that properly evaluates Governor Perry's 10 years in office:

1. that doesn't mix liabilities and debt

2. the equivalent calculation considering relative population through the years and in light of Texas' originally higher population compounded by growth of approximately 1000 a day, mostly from people who move here from other parts of the US,

3. the relative burden of illegals crossing the Rio Grande

4. the Federal Department of Justice, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security policy of transporting illegals from all areas of the US to Texas prior to deportation.

I agree with the title, though I might phrase it a bit differently. ;-) What happened to the rest of Palin’s bus tour? Or is she still on jury duty?

For your consideration. Edited at 5 AM to note that “Texas does not allow the Governor a line item veto.”

“Get off the pot” seemed a little too colloquial.
I’ve been writing most of the night, so will nap, now. Be back soon.

It appears Mrs Palin is content to watch as one of her strongest supporters, pro-abortion advocate & lesbian, Tammy Bruce malign Perry as she did Michele Bachmann.
For all the ostensible confidence these people have in Mrs Palin and her ability to garner the GOP nomination and best Obama in the general it amazes me how Palin drones so readily go in to attack mode when any one's name is even mentioned as a possible 2012 candidate.

Shame on Palin, a self-described "Christian" for speaking out admirably of Rick Perry in his reelection campaign and now she glibly watches her people vilify her supposed opponents. Palin then sits back and claims innocence because she isn't the actual one doing the nasty business.

Sarah Palin is beginning to come across as a phony and a liar.

Piffle, Dr. Bev. Their decision whether or when to run, not yours ... and the voters’ decision as to who will be the nominee, not yours.

Will Sarah Palin breathlessly arrive at the station carrying her packed bags only to find the train already left without her?

Palin is our superstar. She’s already taken on the role of the anti-Obama, and the press and public hang on her every word – either to lap up her anti-Obama statements, or (in the case of our enemy) to try and find some slip-up, misuse of language or ANYTHING they can use so they can smirk and say: “See! SEE! We TOLD you she’s an idiot!”

She has the ability to “rally our troops,” so to speak, that the other candidates (or potential candidates, I should say) can only dream of. I’m not talking accomplishments. I’m not talking words. I’m talking about an attitude, and aura of truth-telling. Anyone out there “inspired” by Mitt Romney? Newt Gingrich? If so, do you think there’s any hope Joe Average is going to be, to the point where they won’t simply say: “Great. Another blowhard politician” and stay home on election day?

Perry might be a great guy with terrific conservative credentials. I don’t know... but that’s just the problem. I DON’T KNOW... and if I don’t know, you can sure bet that the vast majority of the country has no idea who he is... which means the RATS can (and will) just lie, rake things up, or do anything and everything they can to destroy him if he’s the candidate, while all the while holding Our Dear Leader up as a shining example of goodness, trying desperately against all odds to single-handedly hold up a faltering America against the evil corporate forces who want to destroy the environment, starve old people and send all of our children to mandatory Bible school (GASP!).

Ahem. Sorry. Not enough coffee yet. :)

Well said. Who is Bev and who cares what she thinks?

Well, she’s an MD, so obviously she knows better than the potential candidates or the voters. Romney, you know, he’s the best chance to defeat the Democrats! (/s)

Right, an MD. That’s the place for us to get our political prescriptions. Maybe we should get advice from Howard Dean.

Couldn't agree more. Even after the last election, when her running mate failed badly, she continued to be maligned by the media. Why would she put herself and her family out there unnecessarily? I also question those who jump into the race, both R and D, so early. I wish they would just do their current jobs and show us what they believe, not go on tour and ignore their constituents in order to convince us about what they believe. It's overexposure. It's like all the Christmas decorations in the stores before the kids have trick-r-treated.

Obama is finishing Sarah's tour for her.

You are not funny but like the old pissant, you sneak up from the out house throw darts at Sarah, and disappear into the darkness.

Don't even pretend that you are just axing an innocent question, you've elicited the response that you wanted.

Yes, exactly! Two years of campaigning before a primary is even held is just insane. Everyone's bored out of their minds long before they get to cast a vote.

I’d far rather Palin were running, but sadly...

It’s 5 AM and the fish are biting. Perry has loaded up his truck, hooked up the boat, headed down to the K Street Bait Shop, tied all his lures, and is backing his boat into Lake Iowa.

Palin looks out the window, mentions to her hubby it looks like a nice day for fishing, and hits the snooze button.

What? She can’t compete now? She endorsed many people for various positions, but she thinks she can do president better and isn’t afraid to say why. There’s quite a gap between that and the assault on her character you have just presented. A lie requires an intent to deceive, and is a serious accusation. Can you prove she said anything publicly which she secretly did not believe to be true? No, you cannot. You are just following the Palin is Evil meme the left has been using for three years now in an effort to silence her. She critiques her GOP competitors policies and capabilities, but never their character. That’s Reagan’s rule at work, and it would serve you well to join her in observing it.
