From what I've learned about Perry, and for what speculation is worth, (he was a C+ student) he wasn't cut out for being a farmer but coming from a poor cotton farming family and having gotten into A&M, he probably went in that direction to improve their lot but didn't have the talent or interest for it.

At A&M he was Call Leader and part of the student body, so even then his calling was in that vein. His obvious skill is politics and he has put it to good use by filling 100% of all appointed positions in Texas, pushing it right and creating a job friendly environment. His skill has not gone unnoticed.

I think you’ve got it right. He’s from a humble background. I’m glad he’s not some bookish snob, the left can have all those empty suits they want.

Give me a man who doesn’t mind busting his knuckles and breaking a sweat. A common sense kind of guy who gets the job done.

That’s the way I see Perry. Is he perfect? Heck No! Thank God. The last thing we need is another phony messiah.
