Since more than half the cost of a Berkey is in the filters themselves, and you’d have to buy them anyway for your homemade solution,

I think I’ll not take the risk of my unfiltered water leaking into my filtered water because I wasn’t good enough with my hole saw on the 5 gal plastic buckets.
