Senator Rand Paul has done an outstanding job as a freshman US Senator. He has stood his ground; he has not waivered and in every interview I have thus far seen, he has done an OUTSTANDING job articulating his remonstrance of why he could not support –any- of the bills put forward in the House or Senate.
We have a few historical precedents in this nation of sons of previous Presidents succeeding their former Presidential fathers and many such examples in the House and Senate.

Very interesting comment, especiall on the last sentence about the “Ron Paul types”.
I think the biggest problem with Ron Paul IS his devotees. Most observers regard them as obnoxious kooks and Ron Paul gets more of that image than he deserves - because of his followers. I often thought many were actually liberals who were not sure what they were and attached themselves to him during the Bush era because they liked his stance against the war.
I don’t know but he did get the economics right and he’s been right about the Federal Reserve. Nevertheless, his son has much better skills and doesn’t sound like he’s whining when he speaks. There’s a good deal to be said for that in the plitical arena.
Rand Paul is the real deal.
If he were president, we might still have two houses of congress run by Dims and Establishment/Big Government Republicans but he would tie them in knots with his veto pen if nothing else.

You NAILED it. I am pro-Israel. I believe they were established by God’s cov with Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. I believe we need to support them - but what Israel needs is not our money (that we don’t have). Israel is not a 3rd world country. Israel needs us to stand beside her and the WORLD needs to always know that we do. I am firmly against our arrogant encroachments as we stand with nations trying to force partitioning of Israeli land to people who want Israel destoyed.
We write Israel some checks and then sell her out to s0-called “Palestinins” who don’t even exist in world HISTORY. We can write out all the checks we want but we are still acursed if we continue to sell her out to her enemines.
Chicagolady means well but I totally disagree that check writing is akin to suporting Israel.

With all respect, while I admire your sentiment I cannot agree with you.
America does not owe any nation the hard earned tax dollars of its citizens. We waged a bloody war against the Brits to prove that very point. Our Constitution clearly spells out the areas in which federal funds are to be spent — financing allies who aren’t exactly struggling for funds isn’t one of them.
Israel is an important ally. It’s an ally we should be fully prepared to defend with force should such prove necessary. But if you believe it is our duty to financially support Israel, how far do we take that? Billions of dollars a year? Tens of billions of dollars a year? Hundreds of billions of dollars a year? Trillions a year? If Israel finds herself in a particularly nasty bind, do you think it is our duty as Americans to raise our taxes to support them? And if yes, how high should they go?
America has a responsibility to its allies, especially key ones such as Israel. It is not “throwing our allies under the bus” to recognize the limits of that responsibility, however — our nation’s responsibility to Israel only goes so far as our Constitution enables our government to act in such matters. We are loyal to the Israelis as allies, but we must be loyal to America first.
Trustworthy? Really?! Both Ron and Rand are solid Libertarians and stand by the Libertarian Party platform. Yet, they claim to be Republicans and run as GOP candidates, accepting GOP money in support. This is dishonest, poor character. How can you say that someone who lies about his affiliation is trustworthy?
They are both carpetbaggers and originally from Connecticut. In fact, Rand Paul lived in Ohio adjacent to Kentucky and somehow managed to establish residency in time to run for the Senate. These guys are fishy at best, damaging at worst and their libertarian ideology always benefits Dems rather than Republicans.
Well, to me, Rand is not his dad or you could say, is like his dad before his dad had his brain eaten by old age and the lastest model of amoral aggressive social liberatism.
But, I tell you, with every one of these politicans, no matter what they call themelves, I watch what they do - less than follow what they say. So far, so good with Rand who is not his dad.
But you are welcome to your opinion. If, however, you wanted to convience me to your point of view, you would have to do more than a smear saying he is his dad or lived in Connecticut with no data to back it up on his policy statements and actions.
I would be grateful for a “heads up” like that. I am not a worshiper of any man or woman.

You’re misinformed, at least as far as wher they have lived. Ron Paul is from Pennsylvania, and never once lived in Connecticut. Rand Paul has lived in Bowling Greene for years and has never lived in Ohio.
As far as libertarian ideology goes, I think you are right. I do not believe Rand to be a libertarian ideologue. I think he is a conservative with a libertarian streak, whereas his father is a libertarian ideologue.
Who do you actually like? Maybe I have the total wrong impression on you, but frankly you come off as a complete RINO.
