Bush pushed the privatization of SS and the reform of Fannie Mae’s loan approval process...but you were too drunk to listen to either.
That doesn’t make Bush a bad President, it just makes you some nobody loser.
Oh, did you want a "new America" too?
Actually, a fair amount of our problem IS Bush's fault. But, trying to get certain FReepers to realize that is futile.
My thoughts exactly.
And even though that Perry vid was old, (I had never seen it before) it seemed a well reasoned description of our border situation and the rational to protect it.
Timeline shows Bush, McCain warning Dems of financial and housing crisis; meltdown.
>>>>>Texas Congressman Ron Paul is neither a boob nor a fraud.
Now THAT is an outlandish statement.
Forget your timeline...
Heres Bush’s *own* words, in a speech pushing home loans for totally unqualified minorities.

LOL--"Your Honor, I object! Opposing counsel is introducing evidence detrimental to my case!"
Moreover, a politician saying that he's in favor of more home ownership (an idea that goes back to Jack Kemp, if not farther) is like a politician saying he's in favor of more apple pie.
Listen to Bush, his words...”If your a minority, and can’t afford a home, that shouldn’t stop you”.
Bush said, “You can have as good as home as anyone else”...
Great hero ya got there!

Admit it . . . the warning signs were there, the warnings were there . . . but you ignored them. Now, with 20-20 vision, you understand who to blame. Anyone but yourself. [snort]
So typical of a Bush fan.
Attempting to make this about me...Go after the messenger...Everytime.
Even after you’ve been provided audio with Bush’s own words...Not my words...Go after the messenger.
I’ll keep posting the link for others to hear Bush’s own words. Thanks!

If you don't want to get personal, don't get personal first. "Great hero ya got there!" LOL
Great brain you got there--can't remember what you type, ignore what you see. Yup, Paultard.

“Therefore he continued the disastrous housing crisis that was started under the Clinton administration.”
I disagreed with several stances GW took, but on this one - he tried MANY times over his terms to get Congress to put tougher oversight and regulation on Fannie and Freddy, but due to liars like Frank and Dodd (both of whom personally benefited from their largesse), Congress looked the other way and refused. The housing crisis was not due to lack of trying on GW’s part.

It is futile, because he’s no longer president. Every new president/Congress has the opportunity to correct the mistakes of the previous administration.
1) Do we really "need" either one?
2) If we have a candidate from Texas who can't ever possibly win, should we automatically exclude another who possibly could?
3) Is Ron Paul really "genuinely conservative"?
There's much about libertarianism that is conservative, but you can't really reduce conservatism to libertarianism pure and simple.
And his point is? >>
Bush is no republican...and now I see his brother JEB just loves LBJ..you can have both of them.
“Actually, the Bush Administration warned us about Fannie and Freddie. “
Nice try but that’s always been a dishonest claim.
The Bush administration was concerned solely about the capitalization ratio of F&F and not their lending practices.
The Bush administration never evinced any concern about F&F being at risk due to the quality of loans being made. They were only warning about the sheer quantity of loans versus their capital.
Not only was Dubya unconcerned about low lending standards in the mortgage market, he in fact actively encouraged them. You need only find the speech he gave in praise of the ‘American Dream Downpayment Initiative’ to remove all doubt about the matter.
“See, read, listen, and weep:”
There’s nothing in that video indicating that Bush &Co were concerned about subprime lending.
And for good reason because that never was their concern about Fannie and Freddie. You can see what their worry was in the McCain clip where he states that it is the ‘sheer magnitude’ of the two companies.
They were worried about the capitalization ratios of the two GSEs, which incidentally happened to be public companies listed on the stock exchange. There was no legal requirement for the American government to backstop them.
In the end it didn’t matter what stodgy Fannie and Freddie were doing as they were dwarfed by their private sector rivals who were cranking out trillions of dollars of high risk paper and that’s where the meltdown began.
