A second employee of Birmingham's downtown library has filed a lawsuit against her employer, claiming library patrons are looking at pornography on the Internet and management is doing nothing about it.
Jackson says in her lawsuit that patrons are routinely allowed to view pornography on library computers, often in the presence of children and that management has failed to address the matter.

The workers might wanna put a call in to the American Library Association, which champions the right to view porn in libraries.
Isn’t this sexual harassment? Hostile work environment and all that?
just yank these computers out. I have seen computers in the library, and if they aren’t looking at porn, they are on facebook or myspace. I wanted to edit a resume as I didn’t have word at home, and I couldn’t get on due to playing around.
Its a library, read books, yank the computers out.
One of the big problems at that library is it’s proximity to a local park which is a gathering place for homeless drug users and drunks.
When it’s hot out, they come in to the library to cool off and view porn.
Then the local do-gooders offer them free food and a bed at night.
Several years ago I was working out at the YMCA in SF when I noticed a man on a lifecycle (which have internet access) was browsing sexually explicit gay personal ads on CraigsList. Many children were in the area. I immediately reported this guy and he escorted out of the facility.
Do people still go to libraries?
I think so. If her coworkers were surfing porn in her vision and her supervisors refused to stop it, it sure would be.
Let those ALA jerks pay through the nose for allowing this.
I do. I’m a cheapskate and I love to read. Also, I like to buy books from the used book store at the library.
I think it is.
Really? In San Francisco?? Isn’t this the norm?
If it were anyone else claiming the perv was escorted out, I’d call BS. But I believe you.
“Do people still go to libraries?”
Yep. To look at porn it sounds like.
Where else can you go to view porn in complete safety?
Beat me by a couple of minutes ...
“Asked to leave” is a more accurate description.
I visit my local library several times a month. They have an excellent collection of books on tape (CDs actually). I listen to these books while I’m walking outside or on the treadmill at the gym. The rows of computers are usually completely occupied. I don’t know if the users are looking at porn or not.
The internet is for porn...or at least Q street says so...
