Perhaps Chris Matthews hasnt had a showdown quite this good since his contentious 2004 Republican Convention interview with then Sen. Zell Miller. During that exchange, the Georgia Democrat challenged the MSNBC Hardball host to a duel.
But on his Tuesday program, Illinois Republican Freshman Rep. Joe Walsh went head-to-head with Matthews about the debt-ceiling debate. That prompted several interesting exchanges between Walsh and Matthews, including one referencing his 2008 comment that President Barack Obama gave him a thrill up his leg:
WALSH: Hey, Chris, whats the presidents plan? Hey Chris, explain
MATTHEWS: Thats not the point. I pointed out that your party has said the president doesnt have a plan. Your plan doesnt have cuts in it. Can you explain that to me?

I always thought Chrissy just sat there tingling for an hour.
The GOP needs to go to war against the media. Walsh shows how it’s done.
Good for Walsh.
I sure miss Zell Miller. That was one democrat that I could actually like. I wonder how he’s doing.
I love this guy. He’s the real deal. His district (IL-9th)splits my suburb with IL-10th, so I got to meet him several times at campaign stops. He had a real tough campaign against Melissa Bean and her union thugs, but came out on top. After he was sworn in, he and his wife took the red-eye back home to thank us personally.
We can only wish all the Republicans were like him.
Chris Matthews is ridiculous. What a child.
That’s the ticket. If a public official gets bullied by the likes of Chris Matthews, they don’t deserve to have their job.

“and you wonder why people don’t come on your show....”
All CM does is filibuster. Nothing is accomplished by going on his show cause they have what, 100,000 viewers a night? It’s a WASTE OF TIME. Let this guy talk in his echo chamber and pretend that he matters. CM is a waste of space.
Was that a thrill I just felt up my leg? MSLSD is not an acceptable forum for any conservative but the Congressman did a good job, up until he complained about being bullied. That was not being bullied, it was business as usual from the thrill machine.
Did anyone see blue square during this segment on the bottom left side of the screen with a Republican elephant and the words, “Cut Cap Deceive?”
I’m in love.
It’s a good place to get your feet wet and get experience dealing with this stuff. I salute Mr. Walsh. He did a great job.
I know Joe Walsh and contributed to his campaign, Best money I have ever contributed!
God Bless Joe Walsh
Wish Joe would have wrapped it up with this: “And to the few people watching tonight, I would encourage you to change channels.”
Amen - that ought to be a litmus test - anyone that aspires to leadership in this great nation that can't make a fool out of the likes of this partisan putz does not deserve our support.
Joe pimp-slapped Captain Tingle.
If my mom stops watching Chris Matthews, his viewership drops 33%.
