Perhaps Chris Matthews hasnt had a showdown quite this good since his contentious 2004 Republican Convention interview with then Sen. Zell Miller. During that exchange, the Georgia Democrat challenged the MSNBC Hardball host to a duel.
But on his Tuesday program, Illinois Republican Freshman Rep. Joe Walsh went head-to-head with Matthews about the debt-ceiling debate. That prompted several interesting exchanges between Walsh and Matthews, including one referencing his 2008 comment that President Barack Obama gave him a thrill up his leg:
WALSH: Hey, Chris, whats the presidents plan? Hey Chris, explain
MATTHEWS: Thats not the point. I pointed out that your party has said the president doesnt have a plan. Your plan doesnt have cuts in it. Can you explain that to me?

He doesn’t bully Democrats, Leftball lets them spew whatever they want to.
I am so PLEASED that there is a FIGHTER from the LAND OF LINCOLN!
I didn't know anyone still watched Chrisy Matthews.
As effective as he was, Joe Walsh only gives Matthews credibility by submitting to his antics.
Oh, good. I’m glad you got a screen grab.
They do this kind of subliminal stuff because it works. This is pretty blatant, don’t you think? It’s usually more subtle. They must be getting desperate.
no one watches this show......who cares what Mathews says he only demeans himself....

I guess you also feel the same way about Palin or Bachmann defending themselves. Sheesh.
How big is the US economy? - The old trip 'em up ploy.
Might have just as well asked what his favorite color was.
Chrissy is from the Tip O’Neill school of Journalism.
Actually, the question posed if answered in any fashion can be countered by some stats where certain aspects of the economy are added or subtracted in order to make it appear the answerter is not knowledgeable. MSNBC knows this and Hissy Matthews knows what to add or subtract regardless of the answer. It is the typical setup to embarrass the guest approach bullies at NBC affiliated networks use daily. ... I'd love to see him tell Matthews that G.E. doesn't pay their "fair share" of taxes and that G.E. closed down their incandescent light bulb plants in the USA and built new factories for the CFL bulbs in China and ask Chrissy... "How can you work for a company that ships jobs overseas and doesn't pay its' fair share?"
That was as bad a whuppin as there has been since Buster Douglas took out Tyson.
Pray for America
I wish he would have reminded Chris that BO has spent more than all presidents combined. They need to say that every night.

Some top talkers like Chris Matthews and Joy Behar infamous for making news as often as reporting it draw in a surprisingly small number of viewers. Matthews, whose program ranked 20th, has just 698,000 viewers, while The Joy Behar Show, which ranked 30th, attracts a thin 488,000. Compare that to OReillys 2.824 million viewers (add another 1.246 million for his repeat) or Hannitys 2.043 million.
